If you are considering adopting a cat please get in touch with them. They always have domestic cats, occasionally kittens, and farm cats looking for homes. Public support at coffee mornings, open days, street collections, card sales etc, is invaluable. Please support them if you are in the area.

LOTHIAN CAT RESCUE

Covering Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife.
Lothian Cat Rescue is a registered charity formed in 1978 to help cats and kittens that have been abandoned, ill-treated, neglected, or are unwanted for any reason. They currently rescue, rehabilitate and rehome around 1000 cats and kittens each year. All adult cats are neutered before rehoming.
Neutering Assistance: A scheme is available to assist those on lower incomes & benefits to get their cats neutered.
Volunteers Needed: Help is required to care for the rescued cats - particularly at the weekends!

Covering North Berwick, Haddington, Prestonpans, Dunbar, Wallyford, Tranent, Port Seton, Aberlady, Gullane, Longniddry, East Linton, Musselburgh, Gifford, Chirnside, Eyemouth & Duns. As well as rehoming cats and kittens, this rescue helps feral cats by limiting their numbers through neutering and returning to site.

ARTHURSHIEL RESCUE CENTRE

Providing shelter, care and rehoming facilities for all types of animals, mainly dogs and cats, in the Scottish Borders Region (South East). The centre rehomes many cats each year, and there are always many cats needing loving, permanent homes. Prior to being rehomed, all cats are neutered and vaccinated. A home suitability check will also be carried out prior to adoption, to ensure the perfect match for the cat and owner.

SECOND CHANCE CAT RESCUE
Operating in the Peebles and Biggar area.
Aiming to provide a safe place for stray or unwanted cats and kittens. Second Chance cat rescue will give them all the care they need, including veterinary care, until a suitable home can be found. All adult cats are neutered, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped before going to a new home. All prospective adopters will be home checked.

Helping animals in the Scottish Borders
Borders Animal Welfare take in dogs, cats and small animals that are no longer able to be looked after in their present homes for whatever reason.  They receive no funding and rely totally on donations from the public to fund their work. All animals are health checked, vaccinated and are neutered where age appropriate. Home visits will be carried out alongside pre-adoption consultations.

THE CINNAMON TRUST

The National Charity helping elderly and terminally ill people to look after their pets. The Cinnamon Trust’s UK wide network of dedicated Volunteers offer support, enabling pets and owners to stay together. They provide dog walking, pet food shopping, feeding, cleaning, and will foster pets when owners need hospital or respite care.
Please Note: The Cinnamon Trust is not a rescue shelter and cannot take unwanted cats in, but if a pet becomes bereaved they will take on their full time, life-long care.
Cat Fosterers Urgently Needed: The Cinnamon Trust are looking for volunteers throughout the UK who are pet free themselves, and can offer short-term foster homes to cats whose owners are in hospital or respite care. Please contact them as below, if you can help.
