The shelter is owned and run by the Exeter, East and West Devon Branch of the RSPCA. Set in 21 acres of lovely countryside, the shelter has been caring for unwanted and abandoned animals since 1991. Currently, they can accommodate up to 60 dogs and 25 cats, as well as other domestic and farm animals. All homes are checked prior to adoption, and all dogs, cats and rabbits are neutered prior to adoption. Cats and dogs are also vaccinated and microchipped. Fundraising events and public donations are vital to keep the shelter running, as costs can be as high as £4,000 per week.

QUALITY OF LIFE ANIMAL SANCTUARY

The sanctuary is run by a small band of volunteers, and takes in and cares for old, sick, unwanted or abandoned animals (cats, horses, small animals, fowl) also wildlife for rehab/release. Elderly or sick cats can live out their life at the sanctuary, QOLAS take in cats belonging to elderly people who have to move to residential/nursing homes. Cats can also be left to QOLAS in wills. The sanctuary has a non-destruction policy, and a no cage policy and animals are kept in natural environments and are left to roam free within the farm boundary's. QOLAS relies on legacies and public donations/fund raising.  The sanctuary is also able to offer advice on cat care and behaviour.

Woodside provides sanctuary for and rehomes cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, rodents, as well as some farm animals. They provide dog walking, pet food shopping, feeding, cleaning, and will foster pets when owners need hospital or respite care.
Please Note: The Cinnamon Trust is not a rescue shelter and cannot take unwanted cats in, but if a pet becomes bereaved they will take on their full time, life-long care.
