COLCHESTER CAT RESCUE (Colchester & District Cat Rescue and Rehoming Society)

Colchester Cat Rescue cares for around 170 cats at any one time, and about 100 of these are long term as they have not been able to be rehomed. Cats are generally only rehomed in the local area, ie. from Chelmsford in the south to Ipswich in the north. The sanctuary is run entirely by volunteers, who organise various fund raising events.

Based in South Ockenden - this busy rescue centre always has many and various cats and kittens needing loving homes, often over 100! They care for and re-home domestic cats and are keenly involved in the management of the feral population. No healthy animal is ever destroyed. All cats are neutered by the age of 6 months. LITTLE DARLINGS PET RESCUE
Little Darlings is based in Chingford on the Essex and London East border, and works to rescue and rehome cats in the E4 postcode area. This rescue works closely with other local charities and usually has cats and kittens looking for a new loving home; on occasion they may have dogs available.
All cats will be neutered prior to rehoming where they are old enough and a home visit will be carried out. They welcome donations of food, cat litter, bedding, blankets, towels, powdered milk and feeding bottles as they take in abandoned kittens as young as 24 hours old which are hand fed by kind volunteers.

THE CINNAMON TRUST

The national charity for elderly people, and their much loved, much needed companion animals. A network of 8,000 volunteers “hold hands” with owners to provide vital loving care for their pets. The trust aims to keep them together - for example, by walking a dog every day for a housebound owner, fostering pets when owners need hospital care, fetching the cat food, or even cleaning the budgie's cage. And when a pet is bereaved the Trust takes on their full time, life time care.
Short-Term Foster Homes Needed: Temporary, short-term foster homes are needed to care for bereaved cats whilst a Lifelong Home is being found, and also for when people need a hospital stay and require temporary foster care for their cat. Please contact us if you could help.
Lifelong Foster Homes Needed: Lifelong Foster Homes are required for cats left in the care of The Trust. Future Veterinary fees will be paid by The Cinnamon Trust. Please contact as below if you could offer a home for life to a bereaved cat.
Please Note: The Trust is not a rescue centre taking cats in for homing, but when an elderly owner dies, and their animal companion is left in their care, the Trust will do their best to find a loving, life-long foster home for them.
