COLCHESTER CAT RESCUE (Colchester & District Cat Rescue and Rehoming Society)

Colchester Cat Rescue cares for around 170 cats at any one time, and about 100 of these are long term as they have not been able to be rehomed. LITTLE DARLINGS PET RESCUE
Little Darling is based in Chingford on the Essex and London East border, and works to rescue and rehome cats in the E4 postcode area. This rescue works closely with other local charities and usually has cats and kittens looking for a new loving home; on occasion they may have dogs available.
All cats will be neutered prior to rehoming where they are old enough and a home visit will be carried out. They welcome donations of food, cat litter, bedding, blankets, towels, powdered milk and feeding bottles as they take in abandoned kittens as young as 24 hours old which are hand fed by kind volunteers.

HAZELWOOD CAT RESCUE CENTRE

Near Basildon, Essex
Hazelwood is run by a dedicated, experienced team of part time volunteers. The sole aim of the group is to help abandoned, injured and sick cats of all ages and organise new homes for them. They also offer advice on cat care and work closely with other rescue centres and local vets. All donations are spent on the animals' welfare. Hazelwood always has a selection of young and older cats looking for new loving homes, and also kittens at certain times of the year. All cats and kittens are vaccinated, micro-chipped, health checked and treated for fleas and worms prior to rehoming. Cats over 5 months of age will also have been neutered. Prospective owners are required to have a home check visit.

Covering postcode areas: RM1 - RM10, this small but enthusiastic branch fosters and rehomes numerous cats and kittens during the year. They operate a non-destruction policy, which means they will never put healthy cat down - there is a home out there for every cat. The branch is also actively involved in the trapping and neutering colonies of feral cats in the Dagenham & Barking areas, helping to reduce the future feral and stray population. All cats are health checked, de-flead and wormed before moving on to a new home.

THE CINNAMON TRUST

The national charity for elderly people, and their much loved, much needed companion animals. A network of 8,000 volunteers “hold hands” with owners to provide vital loving care for their pets. The trust aims to keep them together - for example, by walking a dog every day for a housebound owner, fostering pets when owners need hospital care, fetching the cat food, or even cleaning the budgie's cage. And when a pet is bereaved the Trust takes on their full time, life time care.
Short-Term Foster Homes Needed: Temporary, short-term foster homes are needed to care for bereaved cats whilst a Lifelong Home is being found, and also for when people need a hospital stay and require temporary foster care for their cat. Please contact us if you could help.
Lifelong Foster Homes Needed: Lifelong Foster Homes are required for cats left in the care of The Trust. Future Veterinary fees will be paid by The Cinnamon Trust. Please contact as below if you could offer a home for life to a bereaved cat.
Please Note: The Trust is not a rescue centre taking cats in for homing, but when an elderly owner dies, and their animal companion is left in their care, the Trust will do their best to find a loving, life-long foster home for them.
