The rescue was initially set up by a veterinary nurse, to give a second chance to cats that were taken into surgeries to be euthanised when there were no physical issues. Millstream take in and rehome many cats each year, and often have around 100 cats in care at any one time, plus up to 20 dogs, all hoping for someone to offer them a loving new home. There are around 40 cats who have become semi-permanent because they haven't been offered a home, but many of these would still like to find their special person! Millstream has a non-destruction policy, which means no healthy animal is ever destroyed.

The National Charity helping elderly and terminally ill people to look after their pets. The Cinnamon Trust’s UK wide network of dedicated Volunteers offer support, enabling pets and owners to stay together.
