Golden Oldie Scheme: Cats over the age of 12 can be adopted under our Golden Oldie Scheme. This scheme exists to help owners who need it to meet the extra costs of caring for older cats. It provides financial assistance to meet the cost of age related illnesses such as thryoid, renal, kidney, heart etc. It also offers to meet half the cost of
special veterinary prescribed food. The Scheme does not include the cost of preventative treatment such as vaccinations, worm and flea treatments and neither does it cover injuries/accidents for which insurance is recommended. Please ask about older cats.

PAWS ANIMAL SANCTUARY (Findon)

Based in West Sussex. As well as rescuing and rehoming cats, the sanctuary helps horses, goats, ferrets, chinchillas, guinea pigs, chickens, gerbils and hamsters etc. Paws Animal Sanctuary is entirely supported by donations and run by unpaid volunteers. The sanctuary is open every Sunday afternoon 3pm - 5pm for visitors to come and look at or even rehome an animal in much need of a loving home. A £1 admission donation is required, to help care for the animals. All donations help towards the running of the centre, feeding and maintaining all of the animals and also to pay veterinary bills.

RAYSTEDE CENTRE FOR ANIMAL WELFARE

Based in Ringmer, East Sussex covering the whole of Sussex, West Kent and parts of Surrey.
Raystede is open between 10am and 4pm for visitors. You can take one of their enjoyable walks to see for yourself the work they do, or spend time in their Visitor Centre where information is available, and films are shown. There is also a gift shop, picnic area, parking and toilets. The Centre is located on the B2192 between Ringmer and Halland. There are usually over 1,000 animals being cared for here, from cats and dogs, to sheep, goats, horses, tortoises, and not forgetting the birds and waterfowl on the lakes! Dogs, Cats and small companion animals are rehomed from Raystede, but many others spend the rest of their years here. There are usually around 35 cats looking for a new home at any one time.

The centre has facilities to care for a wide range of animals until they are ready for re-homing or release. Over 3,000 animals pass through each year, and they can accommodate up to 84 cats and 90 dogs at any one time, plus numerous other animals. As there is a non-destruction policy, the centre is usually very full. The Branch has to fund the Shelter itself, which runs at a deficit each year, so relies on fundraising events, special appeals, boarding of dogs and cats, shop sales and legacies and donations. CAT AND RABBIT RESCUE CENTRE

Founded in 1986, the CRRC is an independent charity who run a rescue and re-homing centre in a spacious rural setting just outside Chichester. They ensure that all cats over six months of age are neutered before re-homing, and that all kittens adopted are neutered when old enough. They offer help and advice to the public about pet ownership, and the humane control of feral cats. The CRRC are always looking for loving homes for cats, kittens, rabbits and guinea pigs.

Cats and kittens are found caring homes wherever possible, but any cats who cannot be found suitable homes are cared for by the charity for the rest of their lives.
Permanent Foster Scheme: More homes are needed for cats who, due to age or health, require extra attention or treatment. The charity will pay all veterinary bills for cats under this scheme, including prescription food, you just provide the love and care.

THE CINNAMON TRUST

The national charity for elderly people, and their much loved, much needed companion animals. A network of 8,000 volunteers “hold hands” with owners to provide vital loving care for their pets. The trust aims to keep them together - for example, by walking a dog every day for a housebound owner, fostering pets when owners need hospital care, fetching the cat food, or even cleaning the budgie's cage. And when a pet is bereaved the Trust takes on their full time, life time care.
Short-Term Foster Homes Needed: Temporary, short-term foster homes are needed to care for bereaved cats whilst a Lifelong Home is being found, and also for when people need a hospital stay and require temporary foster care for their cat. Please contact us if you could help.
Lifelong Foster Homes Needed: Lifelong Foster Homes are required for cats left in the care of The Trust. Future Veterinary fees will be paid by The Cinnamon Trust. Please contact as below if you could offer a home for life to a bereaved cat.
Please Note: The Trust is not a rescue centre taking cats in for homing, but when an elderly owner dies, and their animal companion is left in their care, the Trust will do their best to find a loving, life-long foster home for them.
