PAWZ FOR THOUGHT

Based in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, covering Sunderland and Surrounding area. Rescuing and rehoming through a series of foster homes and kennels since April 2003, during which time they have helped hundreds of cats and kittens to find new homes. They are also involved with the rescue of dogs and other animals. The rescue is funded by two support shops selling donated goods. The group is working towards establishing a permanent rehoming centre.

DRIFTERS REACH at WESTGATE ARK
An independent cat rescue and rehoming organisation based in Newcastle, covering Co.Durham, Northumberland and Tyne & Wear. Drifters Reach is run by a small but dedicated band of Volunteers, rescuing and re-homing all cats who need a second chance. They neuter most cats before adoption, or require neutering as part of the homing agreement.
Items Needed: Blankets, sheets, old jumpers, etc. for bedding and cleaning, and of course cat food or monetary donations.

Animal rescue - domestic, including rehoming of cats and kittens, also helping wildlife (room permitting). A home-check is always carried out before homing, and follow-up contact is made after homing. The Ark is unable to house dogs but they do run a database to assist with direct homing. Permanent sanctuary is given to those animals which cannot be released or rehomed. Also: Wildlife Education Centre and Nature Trail, plus animal care courses. THE CINNAMON TRUST

The National Charity helping elderly and terminally ill people to look after their pets. The Cinnamon Trust’s UK wide network of dedicated Volunteers offer support, enabling pets and owners to stay together. They provide dog walking, pet food shopping, feeding, cleaning, and will foster pets when owners need hospital or respite care.
Please Note: The Cinnamon Trust is not a rescue shelter and cannot take unwanted cats in, but if a pet becomes bereaved they will take on their full time, life-long care.
