Re: Spayed -- 11 days after

Vets usually have them back after 10 days for a checkup/removal of stitches if needed ... I think she should be fine, even if bristly and itchy. That wound looks fine but of course if any inflammation, soreness, wetness, get her back but I don't think you'll need to.

All good luck to you both :)

Re: Black stuff around cat's mouth

Hi, Hipkit, she really is much improved, brighteyed and bushytailed, and worry not, if I thought the vet was needed, I'd contact them. She hasn't got fleas either ... errm I know EVERYONE says that but truly we haven't ... I say 'we' as the little dastards always bite me first and owing to long acqu...

Re: Spayed -- 11 days after

Hi and welcome :) Oh they can be little devils about spaying. I once knew a cat who arrived home bandaged (decades ago) and duly returned for stitches out ... no stitches. She'd sneaked her long Siamese nose under her bandage and removed them herself. One of mine (also Siamese) blatantly took all bu...

Hey Bobbys girl! How's things? So glad you're back! :D Yeah mine often go off Felix; someone on here (I think it was Faerie Evenstar) said 'cats are neophiles' and the faddy little beggars do like a change ... when they stop eating the Felix I put down Sheba ... when they stop eating the Sheba I swi...

Re: Black stuff around cat's mouth

Ummm, this is interesting, because in the last few days my Molly has had a bit of bother with HER eyes, resulting in black gunk in the corners. This has now almost cleared and I suppose it was useful because I was in the middle of (after 7 years of owning her or should that be her owning me?) gently...

Hey Bertie. I only just remembered this poem the other day - but it's very emotive so be careful, don't click on the link unless you're feeling comparatively strong (and I HATE people telling me to read a poem or book that I KNOW is going to make me cry, so sorry about this, very hypocritical of me....

Haaah, typical! I had a Siamese who enjoyed the Ribena I left as a night-time drink. I changed to orange juice so she drank that too ... or was it the other way about? When her son went to a new home, HE swigged wine if anyone left a glass unattended ... I change water every other day, it tastes bet...

5 litters by the age of 2??? :o :o

That girl will welcome retirement and having her stomach back to herself at last!

Hope all goes well with young Jasper - gorgeous boy and a worthy addition, and hopefully a fellow-thug to keep Hendrix occupied and give Mia some peace

Oh poor chap ... I'm probably not being very helpful here, but I did have a cat with similar problems who would wet himself when waking up. He was only two, poor lad. Re: Kitten, 6 weeks old leaving stools in litter box

Yup, as Mollycat says, all is normal. You won't have seen stools before because Mamma will have dealt with them ... yes ... they eat them. Yuck! But once kittens start to be weaned Mother encourages them to use the litter tray - and that IS a good tip, puppy pads. It can be worrying when kittens eat...

Hah, Mollycat - the Precursor! You remind me of the time I had Siamese ... one of them ran past and I put down a hand to pet her and ... NOT one of my 'meezes. I had a seal, a chocolate and a blue. This was the delicate pinkish grey-pointed known as lilac. The episode lasted seconds and the cat fade...

The Doppelganger

I was waking up this morning when I heard a lusty stropping of the staircarpet (nothing unusual) and then a jangle of the windchime behind the bedroom curtains. Again nothing unusual; Molly likes to get up on the windowsill and disturb the curtains and play the windchime. At the same time I felt som...

Well she can't say or do better than that :) Yes, the majority of breeders, as opposed to the bad press for a few duds, adore cats, their chosen breed of cats, and care deeply; they aren't in it for the money (I certainly wasn't lol.) Yes, it's better to decide now, finally, if that kitten's conditi...

Re: 3mo Kitten - Grade 4 Heart Murmur

Yes, I agree - and I used to breed. In my opinion the breeder should pay for any tests needed before spaying - which is what she would have to do if she took the kitten back, surely? Anyone who breeds a faulty kitten needs to take full responsibility. Paying for the neutering as a goodwill gesture/c...

Hi and welcome ... and poor Grizzy. I'm glad she's feeling better now, but althout I've no experience of feline bladder stones, I did have experience of bladder gravel in a dog; despite sticking to the prescribed diet/meds, I'm afraid they did recur, so it might be a good idea to get Grizzy checked ...

Hi and welcome :) As Fjm says, it does look like the result of an abscess; does he have a housemate who might have whopped him one - even in play they can bash each other. Hi and welcome :) I'd personally recommend a secure area, or, if you're flush, secure the whole garden. I lined my fence with mesh and just bent it over; anyone zooming up the fence comes up against a barrier. Obvious 'ladders' such as climbing shrubs had to go, and any visiting cats have to be help...
