Could you hold a sponsored event in aid of Cat Chat?

Cat Chat finds homes for over 5,000 resued cats and kittens each year... that's a lot of happy cats! But there is a long way to go before every cat is happy and wanted.

We receive no secure funding, and need your help to continue our work. A sponsored event is a great way for you to raise funds for Cat Chat, and you can have loads of fun at the same time.

Useful things to remember when organising a sposored event in aid of Cat Chat:

1. Ensure that your event is organised safely. We cannot accept any responsibility for your event nor for those who take part in it. If you would like further guidance on Health and Safety issues relating to events, the Health & Safety Executive website should help: www.hse.gov.uk

disco dancing2. Ensure that your event is adequately supervised. Particularly attention shoud be given if children under 16 years are taking part, as follows: Adult supervision should be arranged at all times, permission of each child's parent/guardian should be obtained in advance to allow their child to take part, and any appropriate background checks should be made if adults are to have unsupervised access to children.

3. Consider what insurance cover you need for your event, including Public Liability Insurance. Also, do you need a special licence? For example, a public entertainment licence or licence to sell alcohol? Check with your local authority if you are unsure.

4. When asking for sponsorship, please use our downloadable Sponsor Forms. Our form explains what we do, shows our Registered Charity number, and also allows people to make a gift aid declaration if they are a taxpayer, which enables us (and higher rate tax payers) to claim tax back from the Government and increases the overall benefit to the Charity. Click here for the form »» Cat Chat Sponsor Form

5. When organising an event you should make it clear on any publicity that you are fundraising in aid of our charity but that you do not represent the charity; this is an important legal distinction. If you are designing posters, leaflets etc. please let us know in advance - we can supply you with high-resolution graphics to use, and we will also be happy to look over your draft copy prior to printing if required.

6. All funds collected on our behalf should be sent to the charity within four weeks of collection, including the sponsor forms if applicable. Please send a cheque made payable to “Cat Chat ”, to the following address: Cat Chat, PO Box 358, Ramsgate, Kent, CT12 6YP. A receipt will be sent.
