Feral Cat Information - Mid Cheshire Animal Welfare • Northwich • Cheshire

For many years Mid Cheshire Animal Welfare has cared for unwanted, abandoned, and injured domestic cats and kittens. In addition we have also taken care of several colonies of feral cats, not only feeding them but carrying out programmes of neutering, worming and treating them for fleas. We also provide veterinary care for the cats in these colonies.

Like many other charitable organisations, our funding has been diminished by the lottery and more recently by the current economic crisis. In order to drastically reduce our overheads we have re-homed all of the cats and kittens at the Centre, which includes all of the long-term Residents. Since there are a number of animal welfare organisations in Cheshire who provide care and shelter for domestic cats and kittens, the Trustees have decided to concentrate on taking care of these feral colonies. At present these colonies contain over 120 cats/kittens, but more seem to creep in whilst we're not watching! As you can imagine, this takes a large proportion of our available funding. From time to time there will be feral kittens which we will calm for re-homing, so please keep your eye on our page where we will post photographs and descriptions of some of our feral cats/kittens.

MR WOMBLE!! HURRAY!! NEUTERED!!

HE IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! HOPEFULLY NOW HE IS ALLOWING ME THE HONOUR OF STROKING HIM HE WILL BE GOING FOR NEUTERING NEXT WEEK. UNFORTUNATELY WE HAVE A PROBLEM!! HE ONLY HAS ONE TESTICLE ( CRYPTORCHID OR MONORCHID ) WE WILL LET THE VET DECIDE. THIS MEANS HE WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO HAVE ABDOMINAL SURGERY. IF THATS WHAT HE NEEDS THAT IS WHAT HE SHALL HAVE!!
WE HAVE AT LAST GOT THE LITTLE CHERUB NEUTERED! LUCKILY THE CONSTANT CONTACT HAS ENABLED US TO PICK HIM UP AND PUT HIM STRAIGHT INTO A CARRIER AND OFF TO THE VET!! HE HAD ONE TESTICLE IN HIS ABDOMEN WHICH HAS BEEN REMOVED ALONG WITH HIS NORMAL ONE - OR SHOULD WE SAY THE ONE THAT WAS WHERE IT SHOULD BE?
HE IS NOW SAFELY BACK WITH HIS MATES. HE IS SUCH A LOVELY CHARACTER AND SO CHEEKY!!
