  •     Domestic shorthair

  •     Arrived 6th January, 2021
  •     Fostered in Macclesfield
Our gorgeous boy Stephen came in via RSPCA Inspectors as a poorly stray.

He has been in the wars, never vaccinated or neutered which led him to fight with other cats and unfortunately he contracted FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). Information about FIV can be found here: https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/pets/cats/health/fiv.

He had several broken teeth and a missing tooth, and conjunctivitis. The first photo on our website shows a poorly weepy sad moggy who was in a lot of pain – but look at him now, a bright-eyed happy, healthy and playful boy! He had a dental and the three broken teeth were removed and he was neutered, he has been vaccinated and microchipped. He was then moved into a foster home. During one of Stephen’s vet checks it was noted that he may have a touch of arthritis in one of his back legs so may need ongoing pain relief on and off moving forward but he’s only on eye drops for his eyes.

Stephen is a lovely, very affectionate and cuddly boy. He’s looking for a home without pets.

“Hello my name is Stephen please let me tell you a bit about myself, I love my catnaps and like to play with all the interesting toys that are in this house, I also like to watch the strange screens that have moving pictures on them especially when they are other animals or my much larger distant cousins! I love my food and do have what my Foster Mum calls a round tummy but I can still run around and go up and down the stairs fine. I am allowed to go outside with my Foster Mum or her Son into the enclosed yard, I do love it when it is not raining, there are lots of smells to investigate and there is also a very comfy bench to stretch out on in the sunshine and grab one of those catnaps I mentioned!

I do have something wrong with me that I don’t understand but my Foster Mum says it means I am not allowed to go outside alone to investigate in a further area or go near any other cats.  But I have a good life eating, sleeping, playing and getting lots and lots of  fusses.  I am not too happy being picked up and held but I really love to be sit on your knee and be close to you.  Apparently I am a handsome boy and gentle natured.  Even though my Foster Mum and her Son have rescued me from my previous life I really do want to find my forever home now and am looking for new owner(s) who have a safe, warm and quiet home for me to settle in.  I am not keen on little humans as they make me a bit jumpy but I like all adult humans.  Do you like my photos and have what I really need?  If so please contact my Foster Mum to come and meet me, I can promise I am a good boy and will give you lots of attention and keep my paws crossed that you fall in love with me and let me come to live with you”

Homes we would consider due to Stephen being FIV positive:
  •     A secure high walled back yard with supervised visits as he loves going out
  •     With garden fence rollers to prevent escape (with no neighbouring cats)
  •     With a large catio attached to the home with 24/7 access
  •     With Protectapet (or similarly) secured garden
  •     Or he can be rehomed to a lone property with land where there are no other cats around to spread the FIV

NOTE : Being totally indoor-only may be considered as reducing his quality of life, since most FIV positive cats have previously been used to going outdoors. In some cases, being confined indoors can even cause stress, which may further lower their immune system.
