Willow
Searching for Willow's pawfect home...

Willow is a senior kittie of around 12 years who was rescued in September last year. We believe her previous owner had died and Willow had been left fending for herself outside for some time.

It was obvious Willow was underweight when she arrived and wasn't very well. Blood tests revealed that Willow was diabetic and would need to start twice-daily injections of insulin. The vet also recommended that Willow undergo dental surgery to remove some painful rotten teeth.

7 months later, Willow's diabetes is stable, her dental surgery is behind her and she is looking and feeling fantastic!

We are looking for a quiet home for Willow where she can relax and lay in the sunshine. Willow doesn't show much interest in playing with toys and prefers to snooze around the home. However, she is fond of catnip! She can be fearful of new people and unfamiliar surroundings and seems particularly wary of tall people. Willow can be affectionate with those she trusts and communicates this by rolling around on the floor in front of them. She enjoys gentle stroking and fuss but will sometimes swipe or hiss when she has had enough.

As Willow's favourite family member in her foster home is a young man who is 15, we think that she could happily live in a home with caring and sensible teenagers. If introductions are done carefully, she may be able to live with a calm sociable cat.

Caring for a cat with diabetes is a commitment. Willow needs to be injected twice a day with insulin and will need blood tests, usually every 6 months, to monitor her and ensure she is getting the correct insulin dose. As a pre-existing condition, insurance will not cover the cost so any potential owners must consider this and be confident they can budget for her treatment.

It has been a long and winding road getting Willow to the point where she can be adopted, but we are a branch committed to helping those animals most in need. Willow deserves a second chance at happiness in a loving family!
