Hannah
UPDATE: HANNAH HAS JUST GONE ON TO HER NEW HOME BUT, AS WE USUALLY DO, WE'LL KEEP HER PROFILE ON THE PAGE UNTIL WE KNOW SHE'S SETTLED DOWN.

I admit to having a soft spot for tortie and white cats, thanks to the many wonderful years I enjoyed from childhood until well into my 20s with the most adorable tortie girl. Hannah shouldn't be adorable, not given the life she'd been left to get on with on the streets, but she is. The area where Hannah was hanging around is one where I've been searching for and trapping cats and kittens living roughly over the past 18 months; it's a very difficult situation for many reasons, including the geography of the place, and Hannah herself had remained unseen throughout that time until February this year. I used a trap to catch her, but soon found her to be a friendly little soul and clearly a cat who had once known domesticity. As all of the other cats caught over the 18 months had been young, and all but one adult being either ginger or tortoiseshell, I did wonder if friendly Hannah might have been the start of it all as cats as young as six months can so easily be already be pregnant or even nursing kittens. Well, Hannah isn't able to tell us how she happened to be living so rough but all that matters now is that this lovely girl finds a wonderful home where she can enjoy the good life. She was so hungry and freezing when I first brought her here and, what little shelter there had been for those cats blocked off to them by uncaring humans.
For about three weeks all Hannah wanted to do was eat, lie in her heated bed and enjoy being gently stroked. The vet found her ears to be full of wax and infection due to ear mites, but that was all sorted out despite Hannah's total lack of cooperation when it came to having drops put into her ears. The same thing went for one of her eyes, left discoloured after what the vet thinks was probably a blow of some kind. I was given eye drops, to be put into Hannah's eye three times a day but there was no way she was having any of it! Never in the least bit aggressive, Hannah has nevertheless taken great pride in being able to twist her whole body out of the way of any such nonsense so most of the drops were sent into orbit rather than the optic. Despite it all, the vet says Hannah's eye has actually improved! It might be the colouration will return to normal, but one way or the other the important thing is it doesn't cause Hannah any discomfort at all. Personality-wise, apart from being comfortable with humans, Hannah doesn't seem to mind the company of other cats at all and I can't imagine her being a problem with children. Not knowing her background and what experiences she's had with children before, though, I think it best to avoid a home with pre-schoolers - not because Hannah would harm them, but simply because very young children make different, more high-pitched, noises than older children and there's always the chance it could bring back uncomfortable memories. Hannah was found to have been already spayed when I took her for her op, which rules out her being the matriach of the cats on that site, and she's now fully vaccinated and microchipped too. She's eager to get her wee bags packed and get settled into a loving Forever home. One with access to the outdoors once she was fully settled would be an absolute must to make her completely happy.
