Aunty Sadie
I have come such a long way since I first arrived at the shelter on the 7th Feb, petrified, eyes wide as saucers, and running at (and vertically up) the walls in a desperate attempt to avoid humans. I’m still wary of sudden movement and will always have my shy nervous edge, BUT, I’ve learnt that kind humans are ok, and once they gain my trust they can scritch my neck and chin all day if they so please. I’ll stretch out my paw for more more more!  In a tranquil home with no small or boisterous children, now or ever, once settled I’ll eventually relax and be able to enjoy my life. So please be patient.  I’ll be best as an indoor kitty. Or maybe a safe enclosed catio.

How did I end up nervous I hear you say? I was just 1 of 10 cats Willows helped save from just 1 street in South Tyneside. My sis LuLah and I were left behind when our owner moved house. We are only young maybe 18 months but Keft Unutered we already had a couple of litters each.  We were neutered by Willows as soon as we arrived. Phew!

I spent my time in the ‘quiet room’ and each day the volunteers would feed me and stroke me. One volunteer called Kate came in super-early every day before work to give me extra strokes. Her little pep-talks gave me the confidence to take the next step… onto her knee.  She’s soooo good with cats that hide, So I call her Heidi. Soon all the volunteers helped me grow and progress into a ‘big girl’ cabin so now I can watch all the other shelter kitties while I await my forever home.

In time I would build a bond with my chosen human to live a much better life than that of a street cat. It’s so rewarding once you eventually win the trust of a cat like me says Aunty Maria the shelter owner lady. She should know she’s been rescuing kitties for over 50 years!
