Pippy
Pippy is a loving, affectionate grey and white senior girl with piercing green eyes and a gentle personality. Pippy arrived at Catcuddles following the death of her owner and she is looking for a special retirement home who will love and cherish her.

Pippy loves company and is a confident friendly cat, happy to greet those familiar to her and strangers alike. After all, everyone who fusses her and keeps her company is worthy of her time. Pippy is a clear example of how age is just a number. She may be a ‘‘super senior’ at 21 but she is energetic and happily climbs onto her cat tree or the sofa, and if she isn’t demanding fuss then she loves exploring her surroundings.

Pippy has seen our vet for a full health check, which confirmed she has hyperthyroidism. Pippy immediately began treatment for this through twice daily tablets, which she takes without fuss in a pill pocket. Hyperthyroidism is a common condition that mostly affects senior cats; with the right treatment and regular health checks, cats with hyperthyroidism enjoy a good quality of life. Pippy also has high blood pressure so also take a tablet once a day for this. Hyperthyroidism often masks kidney disease so Pippy eats renal food, which can be easily purchased online, from the vet’s or from pet shops.

Pippy is looking for a committed, loving indoor home. Anyone adopting an indoor cat from us needs to be committed to creating a stimulating and enriching indoor environment and ensuring it is safe, i.e. cat proofing any windows that will be opened, and fully cat proofing a balcony, terrace or garden if there is one. When catproofing this means ensuring it is fully enclosed, not permitting access is not usually sufficient. If their family are using the balcony, the cat should also be able to and whilst a cat will not jump if there is nowhere to go, accidents can and do happen so this is essential to do to ensure the safety of your adopted cat. The adoptions team can offer further advice on this.

Pippy is being fostered in Plumstead, SE18.

No matter what their age, all adopted cats leave Catcuddles with trial insurance and this is important to take out, even for a cat like Pippy who has a pre-existing health condition that will not be covered by this. For our senior cats the trial insurance is with Agria and if a policy is purchased within the trial period then you’ll be able to take out a policy for lifetime cover.

Our priority is to match felines with homes that suit their needs, character and long term requirements. Please be aware that when a particular cat receives an unusually high volume of enquiries, our dedicated adoptions volunteers may only be able to pursue the most promising. We appreciate your understanding.
