Three year old Mateo is a shy boy. He is unsure in new situations and around new people. As a result of this he may give a warning hiss to show his uncertainty.

Mateo will need a calm, settled, adult only home with no other pets, where the adopter has previous experience of being the primary carer for a cat, and is willing to give this sensitive boy the time he needs to settle. He will need a very understanding, experienced and patient adopter to help coax him out of his shell over time and help him trust humans. 

Once Mateo is settled in his new home he will need a quiet garden to explore, in a safe location away from busy roads with no possible access to the road. A terraced network of gardens would be ideal. He will need to have a microchip catflap fitted at the back of the property within a month of adoption as any cat going out will need a way to have easy access back into the home. A microchip catflap will help to avoid any unexpected guests, which is an important consideration for any cat, particularly a sensitive cat such as Mateo.
