JASPER

Jasper came to his foster home in mid-November after being rescued from an outdoor life, so hadn’t had much human contact when he arrived. He spent his first few weeks feeling a little fearful of this new situation and spent most of his time in a quiet corner giving an occasional gentle hiss to his fosterer when they came to see him. He did, however, allow his fosterer to start cautiously stroking him from very early on.

Luckily for Jasper and his fosterer he really enjoys his food, and through food his fosterer was able to stroke him more and encourage him into other areas of the home.

He is growing in confidence every day. He is happy to be stroked most of the time and will often purr as well. He’s not yet a lap cat and isn’t keen to be carried but his fosterer is trying to encourage this as time goes on.

Jasper likes to have a quiet corner to hang out in as he is not to impressed with the sound of some household appliances. However, he’ll soon reappear when it’s quieter, so he doesn’t miss out on any opportunities to be in the kitchen when food is being prepared.

One household item he does like is the TV he often stands and watches it or goes behind it to see if the people are behind the TV, more recently he likes to spend a little time watching from the comfort of the sofa.

He’s talkative and has a wide range of things to say when you talk to him, as well as lots of cute chirrups.

Jasper is very playful and likes to play with a variety of toys. He’ll play with some of his toys on his own, but he really likes it when his fosterer gets the wand toy out which is his favourite or throws a small ball for him to chase after, or a laser toy. He also has a hilarious mad 10 minutes or so in the evening racing around with a toy mouse or just chasing his tail.

Jaspers’ fosterer is pleased with his socialisation in this short time and thinks with a calm and patient home he’ll become more relaxed and interactive.

For Jasper to live his best life, he would need to have a calm space in his new home to settle in, and patient owners who will allow him to progress at his own pace.
