Faith
Little Faith is one of a litter of three, born to a domestic cat who turned up at an Ayrshire Farm. The kittens and their mother had been fed by the farming family, so got used to some human attention, but had not been handled. It took a wee while for them to feel safe in their foster home after I caught them but all three are doing well, allowing their fosterers to pet them and happy to take treats from their hands. Their mother, Hope, is very sweet and trusting so they have her good example to help give them confidence. Faith isn't confident enough to allow herself to be picked up yet, but she's a playful wee girl with a gentle soul as is her sister Allie. Gus, their brother, is the boisterous one. Maybe his foster mum and dad should have thought of a less macho name to stop him showing off to the girls. All three kittens are now old enough for the girls to be spayed and Gus to be neutered so their ops are now set for November 14th, at which point they'll complete their course of vaccinations and also be microchipped.

The right kind of home for the wee shy ones is one where the people are kind and patient and who will understand how confusing and upsetting it can be for these wee souls to have their whole world turned upside down with everything and everyone familiar now gone. Before they are homed, we supply a list of hints on how to help the shyer ones settle but by far the most important thing is for their new people to give them the time to feel safe and never to use force to "bring her round faster" because that just has the opposite effect. Just think how that must feel when no-one can explain to you what's going on. Faith is a lovely wee girl who needs a lovely family. A home without young children would be best as young children can't really be expected to understand why the new cat doesn't want to play with them right away, but older children who aren't too boisterous (no-one called Gus then....), and who understand should be just fine. In fact, we've had so many situations over the years where it's the older children in the family who've helped the shy cat gain confidence. A garden or other safe outdoor environment to explore when the new addition to the family is very well settled would be just great as Faith and her siblings were used to having the freedom of the outdoors before coming into our care. If you think you could give Faith a loving, kind and understanding home please get in touch!
