Allie
Allie is very like her sister Faith in temperament, that is to say she's a gentle and placid wee girl. I brought her from an Ayrshire farm where her domestic and sweet-natured mother, Hope, had turned up and given birth to Allie, Faith and their brother Gus. The whole family is now in our care and all are doing really well. All three kittens happily sit on their foster dad's knee and like to be petted by both foster parents. They aren't ready to be lifted yet - that takes time and more confidence - but they'll get there just fine. Now that she and her siblings are old enough, little Allie and the others will be spayed and neutered this coming week (Nov 14th) at which point they'll  complete their vaccination course and also be microchipped.

Not having had the benefit of being handled before coming into our care, Allie, Faith and Gus are understandably still shy and especially so with people they've never met before so we have to be careful to ensure they're homed to people who will give them the time, space and patience necessary to let them settle down and feel safe. Just imagine being taken from everything you know, including your family, and not understanding why! Who wouldn't be scared and confused in that situation? The right people are out there - we've met and homed shy cats and kittens to plenty of them over the years - so maybe that home that Allie seeks isn't too far from her reach. A home with very young children isn't suitable for shy cats and kittens for a couple of reasons. Young children do make young children-type noises, and that can be unfamiliar and scary to a shy animal, but it's also not fair to expect a very young child to understand why the cat or kitten doesn't like being chased around or want to be cuddled. Older children, on the other hand, can be the ones who actually help the cat gain confidence so long as they have a good understanding of why the cat is shy and can empathise with how he or she must feel. A home with a garden or other safe outdoor space is also a good idea as Allie and her brother and sister only ever knew the outdoors and would want to explore once very well settled. Could little Allie be the girl to join your family? If you think she could, please get in touch.
