Oliver

Oliver was found wandering the streets and was in a bit of a state. He had been seen to have a fit with the condition of his coat indicating that he had been living rouhg for quite a while. Fortunately, Oliver is very sweet-natured and friendly so someone lifted him and took him to a vet we use. He wasn't chipped, but somehow his owner was found. However, she didn't want to keep Oliver and was happy to sign him into our care. That was all back in October 2018.

Having been shaved from the waist down and bathed by the vet nurses, who totally fell in love with Oliver, and prescribed medication we brought him back into foster care. The first morning he was here there was a sign that he'd had a fit, but at that point he'd had only one dose of the medication that would hopefully stop him fitting. That was back in September and since then, he hasn't had a single fit! Not one! It's very difficult to determine what caused him to fit in the first place, and there's no definitive test for epilepsy, but whatever it was is now either gone or simply being dealt with by his medication. He gets half of a small tablet of Phenoleptil morning and night and that very low dose is sufficient to ensure the fits are under control. Subsequent blood tests have confirmed that he is well and showing no signs at all of any adverse reaction to the medication. Of course, me being totally paranoid, I was anxious that his vaccinations might trigger a seizure so we decided to have the basic course of vaccinations done first and then, all being well, to continue with the vaccination protecting him against feline leukemia (which is a virus in cats). He sailed through the lot without so much as a whisker twitch. He's also been microchipped and had his teeth scaled and polished so that dazzling smile is all set to grab the hearts of visitors. He'll milk it.....

Oliver is just a darling. He absolutely loves attention and particularly enjoys showing off his skills in football whenever anyone is here to meet the cats.  The charity branch will be happy to keep on funding the medication prescribed by the vet to whicher lucky family decides to add this adorable boy to its household.
