Mavis
Mavis came to us after she was found wandering on some waste ground by one of our volunteers.  Another passer-by confirmed that she'd been hanging around there for a few weeks.  As she was only small at the time, too little to be out, the volunteer picked her up and carried her home where she could be scanned for a microchip.  Little Mavis just sat purring in her arms all the way home.  She wasn't chipped and no owners were found.  She spent the next week clinging to whichever humans were around, as though in a determined effort to not become 'lost' again.  She's such a calm, affectionate little soul it seems unlikely that she left her previous home by choice.

UPDATE 31 December:  Mavis is now reserved for adoption

Once safely in rescue she grew and grew ... at quite an alarming rate.  Initially quite a bit smaller than Moses & Marley who she shared a room with, she quickly caught up and grew past them!  We're hoping that at 4.5kg she's stopped growing ... at least for now.

She's had a health check at the vet and all is well.  She's been neutered and microchipped too.  There was a bit of a delay starting her vaccinations due to a national shortage, but she's started the primary course now, is due her second one just before Christmas, and will be ready to go to her new home after the holidays..

Once settled she'll probably enjoy having a safe garden to explore.  It's important that this is well away from any busy roads.  For safety reasons we strongly recommend that they’re kept indoors during hours of darkness for the whole of their lives, and have an indoor litter tray available for use all all times.

Mavis will most likely be happiest with a family where people are around quite a bit of the time, she loves "working from home" and the snuggle opportunities that affords.  She also likes a good Zoom meeting.  She's not encountered children in rescue but she should be fine with children who know how to treat animals with respect.  She'd probably prefer a home with another friendly cat.  She's got on well with Moses & Marley whilst she was sharing a room with them, and then seems to welcome other resident cats popping in to say hello.

All our adoptions come with 5 weeks free insurance.

We always homecheck prior to adoption and ask a minimum donation of £80 for a kitten.

There’s more about our adoption process here: http://www.8livescatrescue.org/adoption-process.html and there's info about how we've adapted the process in light of Covid here: https://8livescatrescue.com/2020/11/21/adapting-and-adopting/  We currently using a blend of the pre and post covid processes depending on circumstances and preferences.

You’ll find some more photos and stories about our cats on our blog: https://8livescatrescue.wordpress.com/ and facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/8Lives/
