Dasher & Kevin
Dasher & Kevin have quite a story behind them.  Bear with me whilst I tell it.

Dasher came to us before Christmas last year.  He was about 6 months old when he arrived .. and had been living rough for a good part of that.  He was quite anxious in rescue initially but settled into being a loving affectionate little boy who enjoys cuddles.  He clearly liked other cats very much and quickly made friends with all the resident cats ... even the grouchy and timid ones.

So why on earth has he been in rescue for nearly a year?  A couple of reasons really.  Firstly - because he clearly wants the company of other cats, we set out to find a pal to pair him up with so they could go to their new home together.  Looooong saga which I'll not repeat here but if you fancy checking out our blog you'll find various stories.   Secondly - we realised to our surprise that although he was very happy and confident with us, when visitors came, Dasher hid in the cupboard under the sink.

A few months ago, Kevin came into rescue.  He was also about 6 months old when he arrived, and had also been living rough for a while and was also quite anxious on arrival.  It was clear from the start that he and Dasher were going to be an item.  Kev was smaller than Dasher at that point, and Dasher quickly set about mothering him, hugging him, washing him etc.  Time has gone on - Kev will be about 10 months now and Dasher 18 months - and Kev is a big strapping lad, bigger than Dasher, but its still clear who does the mothering.   Kev searches the house for Dasher so they can snuggle up together.   They love to play out in the garden together, chasing and play fighting.

The boys have both been neutered, chipped and vaccinated and are up to date with worm and flea treatments.  Vet health checks show them to be in good health.   They're both shy with new people so will need a person/people who have patience and understanding with this until they build their confidence.   They should be ok with sensible children who know how to treat animals with respect, but they're not the kind of cats who are likely to appreciate lots of attention from small children.   They love to play outside so need a safe garden to explore that is well away from any busy roads.

On arrival at their new home they wiill need to be kept indoors at least TWO MONTHS until they are settled.  After that we very strongly recommend that they are kept indoors overnight for their own safety.

All our adoptions bring 4 weeks free insurance through Pet Plan.

We always homecheck prior to adoption, and ask a minimum donation of £75 for each adult neutered cat.. There’s more about our adoption process here: http://www.8livescatrescue.org/adoption-process.html and you’ll find some more photos and stories about our cats on our blog: https://8livescatrescue.wordpress.com/ and facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/8Lives/
