Rehoming Cats & Kittens: Derbyshire & South Yorkshire
Hissy & Spitty
These two little ones were born outdoors and came to us at about 10 weeks old.  They were both very scared to begin with but their confidence is growing, albeit at different rates.  They both play quite happily and are eating well and using the litter tray.  Hissy is now a curious but shy snuggle bug, who has more or less grown out of her name.  Spitty remains much more timid and whilst she allows strokes, she continues to spit when hands come near her.   We're confident that in time she'll also grow out of her name ... but it's going to take patience and time.

UPDATE 12 August: Hissy & Spitty are now reserved for adoption

They've been to the vet for health checks, completed their initial course of vaccinations, been microchipped, wormed and fleaed.   They will need to be neutered by the time they are six months old.  They will need to be kept safely indoors until a) they are at least 6 months old  b) they are neutered  c) they are clearly settled enough to be confident that they will return.  Once they're allowed our they will need a safe garden away from busy roads that they can explore, and ideally be kept indoors between dusk and dawn, with a litter tray available.  This is for their own safety and also to reduce the number of birds which are often caught at dawn and dusk.

They need a quiet home, with someone(s) who have experience with nervous cats and have the patience and time to support them in building their confidence.   They've been fine with the other cats around here so could well be happy with a friendly older brother or sister feline(s).  We don't want to completely rule out homes with children - sensible older children who are happy for the cats to do things on their own terms might well be fine.  However these are not the right kittens for homes where children are very eager to have a pet.   We will be rehoming them together, they've been through a lot together and need to continue to support each other.

All our adoptions come with four weeks free insurance through Pet Plan.

If you think your home might be their furever home, please contact us at [email protected].   We always homecheck prior to adoption and ask a minimum donation of £70 per kitten.

There’s more about our adoption process here: http://www.8livescatrescue.org/adoption-process.html .  Please note that the web page details our process prior to COVID and we are currently needing to adapt the process in order to manage adoptions safely for the humans as well as the cats.  The blog post on the Cat Chat website gives some idea of what adaptations to expect in the adoption process since COVID: https://www.catchat.org/index.php/blog/1847-covid-19-adapting-adopting

You’ll find more photos and stories about them here: https://8livescatrescue.wordpress.com/ and here: https://www.facebook.com/8Lives/   There is a blog specifically about them with more photos and videos here: https://8livescatrescue.com/2020/07/19/lockdown-trapped-and-the-way-forward/
