Christopher
If you’re after a snuggly, friendly, occasionally dramatic (when he thinks he’s starved), wonderful cat then Christopher is for you! He loves having a good fuss whilst cosying up next to you, he has a fabulous purr too! He’s not the most energetic or playful cat (he is super lazy) but he loves scratching posts and cardboard scratchers and he will kick his toys around for a few minutes here and there.

Chris came to us in a bad way back in September 2020. He was found on the streets suffering from a severe flea allergy which had caused scabs, ulcers and hair loss all over his body. To keep him healthy and avoid him getting sick, his adopter(s) will need to treat him every 4 weeks with a vet recommended flea treatment. He still gets the occasional small scab on his back. These do not bother him and as long as he isn’t scratching or over grooming they are nothing to worry about. He’s also had one of his lower canines removed as it was damaged.

Last year Christopher was diagnosed with diabetes. He is now in remission however there is a chance that the diabetes could come back in the future and his adopter(s) will need to be prepared to manage this if it returns. It would involve insulin injections twice a day which he always took like a champ, being perfectly happy to sit there and eat chicken whilst I injected him. To minimise the risk of diabetes returning his adopter(s) will need to keep him at a healthy weight and be very strict with his diet, only feeding him his weighed out meals and the occasional piece of cooked chicken, nothing else! Chris is currently being fed Royal Canin diabetic dry food and Purina diabetic wet food, this will need to be continued for the rest of his life.

Chris will need regular blood tests at our vets in Stockport for the rest of his life. He is due to have one during the first week of July and then it will be every 6 months going forward. We will cover the cost of his blood tests (and diabetes if it returns) for the rest of his life.

Chris is ok with other cats but does not like dogs. He’s looking for a home where he can chill out, relax and have lots of fusses and chicken.

If you have space on your sofa, a plentiful supply of chicken and some love to give then Christopher is the cat for you!
