Thank
You to all our Smashing Volunteers
We
couldn't do what we do without You!

Since Cat Chat began in June 2000, the site has got steadily busier, and the demand for our Charity's services has grown immensely, and indeed, continues to grow. Many rescues refer to us as their 'Rehoming Life-line'. Our volunteers are a vital part of our operation, and for whose efforts we are incredibly grateful!
This page is to say THANKS to those wonderful people who are giving their valuable time, expertise and energy to help to make Cat Chat work! Thousands of ex-rescue cats are purring in their new homes thanks to these folks below:

Distance Volunteers (Anywhere in the UK)
CAT HOMING PAGES UPDATES - 2 new team members needed
Maintaining Cat Homing Pages for rescue centres (as part of a small team)
Requirements: Access to and ability with an Image Programme • Good command of English • Must be able to crop, resize and optimise/compress photos for the web, and be able to put two separate photos together to form one image.
Prepare photos for the web, supplied by rescues via email. Enter details of cats and/or photos to Cat Homing Pages. This is done through any web browser, so no web-building knowledge is required. Some correcting or expanding on text supplied may be needed. Email contact with rescue centres.
Our Cat Homing Page volunteers work from home on their own computers, maintaining pages for rescues anywhere in the country, using information and photos provided via email. Great job satisfaction when you have helped a cat get homed! Guidelines provided.
Time Commitment: Flexible, but estimate between 2 - 3 hours per week
For further information, please email our Volunteer
Co-ordinator: or, to volunteer, please print off and complete our Volunteer Application Form, including details of two people we may apply to for references: Volunteer Application Form (PDF) |

TOP CATS ENTRIES - 1 or 2 new team members needed
Entering Cats details and photos to our Top Cats Section - (as part of a small team)
Requirements: Good command of English • Ability in creative writing • Access to and ability with an Image Programme • Must be able to crop, resize and optimise/compress photos for the web, and be able to put two separate photos together to form one image.
A great job for creative writers! Entering cats details and photos to our Top Cats Section, ideally writing the text in the first person (Hi, my name's Felix, etc.), often correcting or expanding on the text supplied. Cropping and resizing photos to a standard template, and optimizing for the web. Email contact with rescue centres and the Top Cats Co-ordinator. Working from home on your own computer. Good job satisfaction when one of ‘your’ Top Cats gets homed! Guidelines and standard emails provided.
Time Commitment: Flexible, but ideally daily or every other day, up to a half hour each time - we aim to get Top Cats added within 1 - 2 days of the Rescue’s request. Each entry takes up to half an hour. (you will be able to choose how many entries you can cope with)
For further information, please email our Volunteer
Co-ordinator: or, to volunteer, please print off and complete our Volunteer Application Form, including details of two people we may apply to for references: Volunteer Application Form (PDF) |
Local Opportunities (South East Kent):
CHARITY TRUSTEES - (2 posts) (S. E. Kent only):
Requirements: Animal lover, with some spare time • A connection to the web • A willingness to take on some level of responsibility • Honest, Trustworthy and Reliable • Any relevant or useful skills a bonus!
We are currently seeking to increase our Trustee body by two people. Ideal candidates would have experience in one or more of the following fields; business management, publicity and marketing, trading, I.T., web development, finance, general admin, fundraising, staff management, grant funding, animal welfare, although these are not exclusive requirements - if you feel you have other skills which may help the Charity, we would still love to hear from you. Trusteeship gives an opportunity to actively shape the future of the Charity. Experience in the Charitable sector would be helpful but is not essential. We are a small, friendly committee, and one of us will be happy to have an informal chat if you think you may be interested in joining us. We currently have no-one in the post of Charity Secretary, and we would also be pleased to find someone to fill the roles of Fundraising Officer and Publicity Officer.
Time Commitment: The Trustees meet once a month, however you would be expected to take an active role, and to be involved in additional tasks requiring work between times, to the benefit of the Charity.
If you are an animal lover, have skills which you think would further the Chairty's aims, have some spare time, and you live in South East Kent, please email the Colonel, including a land line phone number: |
Local Opportunities (South East Kent):
EBAY WIZARD(s) - (S. E. Kent only):
Requirements: Ebay knowledge • Ability to crop, resize and optimise photos for the web
We would love to hear from someone near us in Thanet who could organise our Ebay sales for us (both entering up the items and posting them out too!). We have a huge stack of stuff here to sell, mainly books, so it would only be practical for someone local or local-ish.
For further information, please email our Volunteer
Co-ordinator: or, to volunteer, please print off and complete our Volunteer Application Form, including details of two people we may apply to for references: Volunteer Application Form (PDF) |

I'm getting rather a spiffing regiment together here - by jove I am! The details posted above are the positions currently available, however as things are developing rather speedily, other volunteers will become needed - so please check back another time for updates. Tally Ho!"
