Re: Balconies and cat flaps

Many thanks for the advice. I just noticed on the photos that there's a small window between the cat-proofable balcony and the internal hallway of the flat, so this may be a more geriatric-brain-friendly (not to mention free) way of giving the cats free access during the day, when it's too cold to l...

Balconies and cat flaps

Hello, I posted a few months ago prior to travelling on a lengthy journey with my two geriatric ladies, and received some great advice. We've now been hosted by family members for about five months and - apart from getting a little rotund and an increase in yelling, despite my best attempts to keep ...

Re: Adjusting to a smaller and indoor-only new home

some of Jackson Galaxy's ideas for making small spaces ideal for cats shown in 'My Cat From Hell' are very inspirational, so this book might give you some ideas https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154626734466?chn=ps&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A1_tXyyhKQRxqhCGWnjrQkWQ88&norover=1&mkevt=1...

Re: Adjusting to a smaller and indoor-only new home

I know this is going to sound mad but changes can trigger problems between even the best of bonded cats. So I would separate them and proceed gradually as if you were introducing them for the first time. Obviously they may be fine together very quickly, but especially in the early days when new sou...

Adjusting to a smaller and indoor-only new home

Hello, I'm - hopefully - soon to move into a small second floor flat with my two cats. We previously lived in a house with access to the outdoors, and one cat in particular has always enjoyed spending time outside. They are 14 and 15 years old, but still have plenty of energy (albeit in short bursts...

Re: Advice for a long car journey

Hello, I just wanted to post a quick update to say that both cats coped with the journey brilliantly. I kept them in their usual separate carriers, and as I was also able to borrow two larger pet cages I put each carrier in those as well for extra security! I put a small towel soaked in cold water o...

Re: Advice for a long car journey

Thanks for the good advice. It did cross my mind that it might be best to sedate myself and leave the cats alone! My first inclination was to keep them separate in their usual carriers, and hope that after they've belted out all their favourite songs they'll hunker down and sulk or sleep. I'll see t...

Advice for a long car journey

Hello, I'm going to be travelling by car in the next couple of weeks with my two elderly-ish female cats (14 and 15 yrs old). The journey will be take about five hours; they've never been in a car for longer than about twenty minutes before. They normally travel in separate cat carriers, but I'm tol...
