Re: Hitting a cat/I stole it
We sort of stole Wolfie...his first owners moved and left him behind. Probably the 'right' thing to do in some eyes would have been to find out where they moved to and bring him over. However anyone who is comfortable leaving a cat outside with no way of getting back in on fireworks night and then m...

Re: Cat flap setting 'Entry only'
We've used our cat flap on 'in but not out' mode at nighttime (dusk onwards) for some years and occasionally when we have been away overnight with few problems. we have had some problems with one of ours working out how to open it when its locked as well as the odd 'catch' (mainly strays - one of wh...

Re: tail not moving
We had a cat that broke her tail in a RTA and had to have it amputated. This is going back some time though - it happened back in 1991. She managed very well without one for the next 6 years however she had also suffered nerve damage at the base of her tail which affected her bowels so she used to g...

Re: Are laser pointers cruel?
One of our cats chases the little dots you get when the sun reflects off watch faces onto the walls or floor - he is the only cat I've known that does this - our other two just aren't interested. As sunshine can't be guaranteed in the UK we bought Mali a laser pointer which he love to chase - while ...

Re: Frogspawn!
We have 2 ponds one has fish in the other doesn't. We dug the non fish one in the summer of 1992 and by the following spring we had dozens of fornicating frogs resulting in loads of frogspawn. Until this year. We saw very few frogs this spring and we only have one batch of frogspawn as far as I can ...

Re: Do you care for strays?
I wish I could say the same for here but we have had a succession of them through the years we have lived here. They don't always come round every day at the same time but we usually put out our own cats leavings for them and if we actually see them (and they don't run away) we put out more food if ...

Re: Do you feed the garden birds?
I agree its worth the risk - and yes for the really good hunters out there that can still catch birds with a bell attached to their collar try two bells - apparently 2 rattle against each other and are more difficult to keep quiet. The other thing that we found useful was putting holly round the bas...

we have foxes around us - we're on the edge of town and there is an allotment and school fields at the end of our road and there at least 2 in the area. One of them is a large magnificent creature with a big brush the other is a bit smaller and his(her?) tail is a bit scrawnier. They come up to the ...

Re: Help needed - Outdoor Cat pooing inside and have small b
It would be a good idea to get him checked out by the vet to make sure there isn't any underlying health issue that is causing this. It sounds like there may be an issue as wet food doesn't in itself cause watery poo and moving to totally dry food without veterinary advice could cause further compli...

Re: Neighbours cat is attacking my cats
It sounds like she won't get very far with the owners of this cat - is it neutered? Would cat proofing her garden be a solution ? There have been other threads on cat proofing and a number of people on here have done it for various reasons. It may be expensive but the cost could be offset by the vet...

Whatever you do please don't advertise them free to good homes.
People often reply to these adverts who are looking for cats/kittens to act as bait for dog fighters so please don't advertise them for free. Hopefully you should be able to get some help from the local animal charities.

Wolfie decided the safest place for him to be was on my pillow wrapped round my head. Not the most comfortable night for me given the temperature but didn't want to disturb him.....
