Re: Molly pulling her fur out
Thanks all! It quite possibly is stress/anxiety as she's quite highly strung bless her! She's a million times more relaxed than she was when we got her but maybe it's just a leftover behaviour (she was a rescue taken from an overcrowded flat). So I guess if she's not leaving big patches and breaking...

Molly pulling her fur out
Hi all, not posted in a while. Just wanted to air a concern I have.....our girl Molly (otherwise fit and healthy) grooms herself just like any other cat, but when it comes to her back (only ever her back) she yanks tufts of fur out. It seems to be in the same areas all the time and to be honest I'm ...

Big bum!
This might sound like a strange one, but we have 2 cats Kevin who is 18 months old who we've had since 9 weeks old. Then we have Molly who is a rescue, we were told that she's 3 in May but when she last saw the vet for a booster jab he said she might be 4 or 5. They're both shorthair black moggies. ...

Re: When will he stop growing?
Thanks
he's a little cutie, but he's naughty! He likes to sleep on my chest at night. We've got another black cat Molly who is roughly 2-4, we got her as a rescue so we're not totally sure. She's got a wonky tail which we think gives her character.

Re: When will he stop growing?
I don't think so, although I'm not sure if I'd necessarily know? He's definitely short haired, I know his mum was a tortie and he was the only black kitten in the litter so it's possible he has a different dad? When he was a kitten he looked a very dark brown tabby almost but that seems to have disa...

When will he stop growing?
I'm a bit confused. Every single book/article I've read plus my vet says that cats should be fully grown by their 1st birthday and then just keep filling out. Kevin is 14 months now and is DEFINITELY still growing! His legs seem to have had another spurt overnight so he looks like bambi this morning...

Re: Elderly lady cat meows very loudly at night!
Poor holly. I would definitely introduce a 2nd, low entry litter tray in the corner she's been going in. But actually I think the 2nd biggest issue is educating your husband that cats get a lot of the same neurological conditions humans do in old age. I would definitely take her to the vets just so ...

I think we've had quite a good summer in Leicestershire, certainly it's mostly been dry.

Re: Giving medicine
Ours are the same, Molly just knows when there's a pill in her food even if it's crushed, and goes mad if we try spot on. Kevin seems almost like he's reacting to spot on treatments; he gets extremely stressed and agitated for a couple of hours afterwards, then licks all he can off and vomits. Every...

Molly hates the change in weather!
Our girl Molly is having a rough time adjusting to the change in weather. This is the first summer-autumn change we've had her and she's just not herself. She would usually go out first thing, come back for breakfast, go out again, come back and settle mid morning for the day. But for the last week ...

Re: Tilly is very quiet, hiding and not eating
Poor Tilly. I was going to say our girl Molly was acting very similarly and I took her to the vet and she had a high temp and suspected infection. Poor Tilly getting a bite, do you have an idea which local cat could have done it?
Hope she's feeling better.

Re: Gravy/wet food/biscuit combo!
My poor hubby does struggle lol but Kevin is huge now! Also Molly was born with a wonky tail so he just says 'show me your tail' :) I guess I've just got a mothers instinct and actually find it quite easy to tell them apart. They're totally different personalities too so that helps! Thanks for the w...

Ooh that's making me want soup now which is a good thing as I've had a stomach bug since Friday night!!
I'm currently in bed snoozing with Kevin in his usual place.....sleeping on my stomach! I don't mind as long as he stays still!

Re: Gravy/wet food/biscuit combo!
That sounds great! I will definitely try that this week. If I cool it but don't refrigerate would it be more like a thick gravy than jelly? Yes they're total opposites in terms of food, except they both love red meat so that's what I will try first. Whoever brings out just little pouches of gravy fo...

Gravy/wet food/biscuit combo!
We have 2 cats with very different food tastes. It's quite fiddly and proving quite wasteful trying to cater for everything, so I'm wondering if there's any compromise we can make? Molly is extremely fussy. She won't touch dry food unless she's starving, and is very picky about her wet food. She als...

Re: Raw food diet?
Ours currently eat Aldi gourmet wet food plus we keep a small bowl of dry food available all day if they want to nibble while we're at work/asleep. Nutritionally it's virtually exactly the same as whiskas and felix. One of ours is an indoor only cat, and both are neutered so I try to watch their cal...

Raw food diet?
Just wondering if anyone here feeds their cats on a raw meat based diet? I've seen loads about it recently, it seems to be the 'in' thing! obviously this is what cats are born to eat, cat food is a human invention but I wonder what are the pros and cons? Cost versus cat food? I'm very interested to ...

Re: Flea options
I've got them booked in for Program as of next month, works out about £50 a year cheaper than buying drops every month. My parents used to use a flea collar on my childhood cat, it stank to high heaven at first!! I've also wondered what the long term effects are, as our youngest Kevin seems more and...

Flea options
Molly and Kevin both hate flea day with a passion. It's not even just the nasty smell or the fact (for Molly) that we have to hold them to do it. They both spend hours afterwards trying to lick it off, and Kevin becomes withdrawn for a few hours as if it actually hurts him. We've tried several diffe...

Re: Is Molly underweight?
Ah thanks guys. I've always wondered if she's got some Bombay in her because her eyes are so golden, and I know they're small cats. Good I'm less worried now! She certainly loves her food (specific brands only!) and she holds her own against Kevin when they play fight so I probably shouldn't worry.

Re: Is Molly underweight?
Thanks! :) she's always been quite delicate, and Kev is definitely all muscle. She was only about 4lbs when we got her bless her, and was very skinny. Kev was only 880g when we got him at 9 weeks he was so tiny! I must admit, I did an online calculator for her weight and it said she was underweight,...

Is Molly underweight?
Hi all! Some opinions and advice please. Our 2 year old Molly came to us as a very underweight 1 year old from a rescue shelter. we got her up to 6.5lbs which our vet thought was a good weight for her as she's not a big cat. We've now also got a kitten, and at 9 months he's already 8lbs!! I know he'...

Re: Claws....to clip or not to clip!
Kevin's claws are translucent, whereas Molly's are a lot thicker and darker, almost a grey colour. She's outside a lot so it's probably dirt and more vigorous use of them that makes them look darker! Hers aren't anywhere near as sharp as Kevin's either.

Everything is snagged!! Clothes, bed linen, curtains..... Milky never ever uses her claws unless she has to, but Kevin loves a good rip of trousers!!
