Re: Congestive Heart Disease/Failure

Thank you so much for replying LPBH! Guinevere has been on her medication for 2 weeks tomorrow. Initially it seemed to help and she started eating again. I called into the vets to ask for some diuretics too but since she has been taking them she no longer wants to eat. This morning I blended a pouch...

Congestive Heart Disease/Failure

Hi everyone, My 15yr old diabetic cat has just been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Disease/Failure. We went to the vet 3 times last week as she stopped eating altogether and firstly they thought kidney failure, no improvement took her back for stomach x ray to see if there was a mass there, then th...

Re: Recent diagnosis of diabetes

Hi Sue, I have a diabetic cat diagnosed a couple of years ago. The vet will only up the insulin by small increments so it might take a while to get to the ideal dose. For my cat, the dose went up and up and up and so did her blood sugar until it was off the scale! After 6 months, it was deemed that ...

Re: 8 year old ginger tabby with litter box problems, please help

I use the wood pellet cat litter. It just fluffs up after using it and is unscented and there is minimal smell after the cat has been. Perhaps give it a go. You only need a small amount in the bottom of the cat tray as it fluffs up to about 4 times the size. You can buy it in most supermarkets.

Re: Help! Feeding grain free wet food

Have you tried James Wellbeloved Grain Free kibble? My diabetic cat has turned her nose up at everything else grain free I have tried but she absolutely loves this! The composition is: Turkey Meal (33%) potato flakes (25%) turkey fat, pea starch, potato protein, turkey gravy, tomato pomace, pea prot...

Re: Toileting problem, advice please :-)

My cat only likes to go in so far too and barely misses peeing outside of it - although on occasion she does! I get the feeling she doesn't want to put her feet in there particularly if this is a second visit when it's not spotless. I use the wood grain cat litter which fluffs up after peeing and is...

Re: Put elderly cat in cattery for 15 days?

Thanks everyone. Hi Lilith! Remember Mojo who I found at the petrol station? I tried to find a home for him in Ireland with no luck so when I moved back to the UK in February I brought him here with me. Well, he now has a lovely new home in my village and his new owners are delighted with him and he...

Re: Put elderly cat in cattery for 15 days?

Thanks Antonio I did approach a pet sitting service but they only came in twice a day to feed her. Perhaps I will keep looking to see if I can find someone to live in with her as it does seem to be the best option. I'm sorry to hear about your cat - you obviously did the very best for her until she ...

Re: Put elderly cat in cattery for 15 days?

Thank you Kay. You're right but I don't have anyone who can come and live in - except my friends who just got a puppy!! I'm wondering if there are any services where she could go and live with somebody for a fortnight? She would settle quickly as she loves people and so long as she had her food, a b...

Re: Lost Black Cat in Pimlico, London, SW1

I'm sorry to hear your cat is still missing. When my cat went missing, I was advised to hang her unwashed bedding on the line so that she could pick up the scent if she was nearby. You could also put the litter tray out and any toys etc. My cat was missing for 4 days and on the very night I hung her...

Put elderly cat in cattery for 15 days?

Hi I have never put my cat in a cattery before as usually my neighbours would feed her. However, she is now 15 years old, diabetic (needs injecting daily) and I believe she has early signs of dementia as sometimes she seems to get "lost" in the house. It is a big responsibility for my neig...

Mojo lashed out at me!

So Mojo the rescued male cat from the post below (Found Cat - very nervous) has lashed out at me! He has gradually become quite attached following me about, rubbing up against me etc and I have progressed from just touching him on the tip of his head to cupping his head in my hand and stroking him -...

Re: Even The Vet Isn't Sure If She's Ill

I agree with Kay - I would take her to a different vet to get a second opinion. Perhaps take a video on your phone of her when she is wobbly to show the vet just in case she doesn't display this on the visit. Let us know how she gets on.

Woody in the bath made me laugh! He was a very handsome boy and does look rather regal! I don't think there are any cats who live to be in their 30s or 40s! You did so well to get him to aged 20 which is very old for a cat! God bless him RIP.

Re: Found Cat - very nervous

Thanks everyone. I am just glad the update was about him settling in and not to inform everyone he had run away!! I know it seems soon to let him out but I usually take my cue from the cat and if he had wanted to sit in on the sofa, that would have been fine too. Once the autumn arrives, I am sure M...

UPDATE on Mojo

Well, Mojo has had his op and lost his family jewels! It turns out he is a young adult of approx 3-4 years old. His ears that I thought were just simply filthy turned out to be full of blood so he must have had some really bad infection and the large scabs behind his ears were due to him scratching ...

Hi Andy, I'm so sorry to hear about Woody. I'm afraid I have no advice regarding the Xray but I do understand that it was a difficult time for you to make that decision. You went on the advice of your trusted vet and I know that it is very common to feel we could have/should have done more after a l...

Re: Both cats have fleas.... HELP!!

Yes, get some aerosol house sprays from the vet. They are pricey but well worth it. Remove all the plants and any other living thing. Wear a face mask and give it a great spray all around the skirting board edges and between the floorboards if you have exposed ones and everywhere else and then get o...

Re: My cat needs to go on a diet :(

My cat ate Purina biscuits (Salmon or Chicken) every day for years on end and she became very overweight (and still is). Now she is diabetic and I have to inject her each morning (she's on human insulin as the animal insulin had no effect!) and I blame it on all those carbohydrates. Now I feed her M...

Yes Crewella, him being beige was the first thing that caught my eye cos I know you don't get beige cats - followed by his backside sticking out of the dustbin! Hi Lilith, Thanks so much for your reply. Funnily enough after I wrote that, the cat started talking to me! I think the translation would be "Let me out!" So I have widened his access to the hallway too. I have made a makeshift bed on a unit by the window so that he can look out and also p...

Found Cat - very nervous

I found a hungry cat at a service station 5 days ago (I have the cat listed under found cats, plus on other sites) and after feeding him there for 5 days, I brought him home yesterday afternoon. I currently have him in the bathroom to keep him separate from my resident cat Guinevere. Needless to say...

Re: FOUND: White Cat, Black Tail - Crookstown, Kildare, Ireland

UPDATE: I now have the cat in my home. I managed to lure it into the crate by putting the food bowl in there. I am not sure if it is a neutered male or a female. As it was found at a busy service station, I would guess that the cat jumped in a van and was then let out in Crookstown so it could be fr...
