Re: Cat has allergies, don't know what to do

Hello, I can really relate - my foster (now permanently adopted :)) cat Ted is very allergic and itchy. His issues apparently started with a flea allergy, before he was rescued from his previous awful environment. Apparently he had cuts, scabs and sores all over him when he was rescued :(. He's now ...

Re: What litter do you use?

Gosh - all this info is so useful - thank you everyone! Especially for the details about why you like / dislike certain litters.

Cost is definitely a consideration - as things are quite tight at the moment - but at least there's just the one Ted to worry about / cater for :). Thanks again!

Re: What litter do you use?

Thanks so much for the helpful replies everyone! Sammy is short-haired but has rather fluffy trousers :) - so I've found the very fine clay stuff can sometimes stick to his rear end then gradually be deposited around the house... Although he's not been allergy-tested (yet - the rescue is considering...

What litter do you use?

Hello everyone, So - it looks like I may have failed as a fosterer... as my little charge Ted is almost certainly staying with me permanently :D . I've got to tie up the red tape with the rescue, but they've said they'd be very glad for me to keep him, as he's happy with me and I seem to be keeping ...

Re: Itchy Ted - please advise!

Hi greenkitty, Sorry for the delay in replying - I haven't been near a computer for the last 36 hours. Thanks so much for telling me about Hector's experience with Pred - that's definitely encouraging. I remember you mentioned the Piriton a while ago, which is why (with clearance from the vet) I now...

Re: Itchy Ted - please advise!

Hi K, I really appreciate you taking the time to post such a thorough reply - thank you! Funnily enough I have excema myself, so I totally understand the 'itch scratch' cycle. Unless my skin is in tip-top condition, the cracks in my hands move and stretch and starting itching all over again (regardl...

Itchy Ted - please advise!

Hello everyone, As some of you will remember, I'm currently fostering a lovely little chap called Ted. To cut a long story short, he's with me while we try to sort out his skin problems. Essentially, he's really itchy, and if not supervised / put in a comfy collar, he scratches / overgrooms until so...

Re: Office buddy

I work from home too (I'm a journalist) and I'd arranged a really important phone call with a TV production company. I put my foster cat Ted safely upstairs ahead of time (to make sure he didn't do one of his mad victory laps of the living room while I was on the phone). Right on time, the TV compan...

Can anyone recommend a cat-sitter?

Hello all, We're off on a week's holiday in June, and will be looking for a really fantastic cat-sitter to look after our foster cat Ted (2 visits a day, to our home - I don't really want to unsettle him by putting him in a cattery). Does anyone know of a good pet-sitter reviews site? A sort of 'tri...

Ah, thanks all! I had a great laugh reading through your replies - and it's good to feel I'm not alone...

Sarcazm - I now have a vision of all your family members dodging into rooms and hiding as the 'Master of the Realm' goes on procession - brilliant!

Re: The wacky things we do for our cats...

Ha -yes, Ted likes to pretend he's a Russian hat sometimes! Wraps right round the top of my head... I worry that I'm going to turn over and hurt him, but it's usually the other way round (yesterday he got up, stretched and stuck a paw right in my eye :))

The wacky things we do for our cats

Hello everyone, Those of you familiar with the old forum will remember that I'm fostering the completely adorable Ted. I was just musing on the slightly bonkers things I do to make him happy :). For example... - I sleep with a freezing cold back every night, so he and my boyfriend can share the duve...
