Re: Do cats need jabbing?
Hi Molly. Yes probably re FIV cat, but I had an FIV stray I adopted ten years ago and he passed over five years ago so he lived to be around 9 or ten. I might have been on the look out for another one when all mine passed. Got my one eyed ginger and his black playmate - got them in a Facebook group ...

Re: Do cats need jabbing?
Yes, I'm going to get my boys done, thanks. It's just that one of them only has one eye and is nervous around anyone but me so I don't like the idea of taking him to the vets. I hope your cat will be ok. My old girl lived to be 3 months shy of 22 years old. It was an antibiotic jab that caused her t...

Do cats need jabbing?
I've had cats all my life but the last three I had, I never jabbed them in later life and I can't remember if cats need yearly jabs or not? I have my two rescues now and want to do right by them. Thanks.

Ok so I've felt where the problem is. If I get Pickle from behind with both hands and squeeze both sides of his stomach in front of his hip joint, on the left side he growls and stumbles. Then he gets up, stretches and walks around as if all is fine. So I'll chat to a vet about him tomorrow.

Re: My rescue cat will not use litter tray and doesn't p&p all day...
Hi all. So there is nothing wrong with Pickle when I stroke him down the length of his spine and he hasn't wobbled on his back legs for a couple of days. But I've noticed sometimes when he turns his body around he gets wobbly. It doesn't seem to be bothering him but it's very strange. I really don't...

Re: Is your vet letting you into the consultation room during this time?
Thanks all. It's just that a friend of mine has been aloud in recently wearing a mask. I thought they were relaxing the rules. I mean, I can understand a few weeks ago, but just wondered about recent appointments.

Is your vet letting you into the consultation room during this time?
Because the place I use - I've not been to them in a year - have different staff now. My old vet who was Oody's vet called me a couple of months ago to tell me she was moving abroad and most of the vets have gone and been replaced, and they didn't let me into the consultation room the other day. I h...

I certainly will. He still hasn't used the trays. I'm concerned about what caused his shaky legs but he is walking fine. I have to pluck up the courage to stroke the base of his spine today to see if it's gone completely.

Hi Mollycat, no the HIV stray I homed for 7 years died peacefully aged around 10. It is a new thing for him, I've had him for around a year. I think after reading the replies here, I will put another dirt tray in another room with clumping litter. The litter tray he has now is non clumping. And yep ...

Hi all. I have two rescue cats, my ginger boy, Pickle only has one eye and is too scared to go out in the day because I live in a maisonette and to get to our garden he has to go out the door down the pathway I share with the other people. They go to bed around 9 ish and Pickle will start looking ou...

Also the Blue Cross has an animal companion grief helpline which I rang a couple of times when Oodyboo went. It helped me to talk to them.

Re: Overwhelming grief
Hi Lynne. My ,21 year old cat passed last Halloween. I'd been grieving for her for three years before thinking I wouldn't be able to cope but actually I felt relief when she did go. Within three weeks I had two rescue cats. They will never ever replace my Oodyboo bit they have helped me no end becau...

Oh Kris, I am so sorry to hear that. We reached that stage with Tommy and had made the decision before he got too bad. it is THE worst thing to have to do. In the end HE took the decision out of our hands, Bless him. We are so glad we took so many photos of him. I wonder if he knew as he took to lo...

Re: My old cat went into a coma in her sleep
Awwww Issi, no I thought it was a lovely post - and I want to be reminded of Oody ALL the time. I was just saying to my friend the one thing that scares me is forgetting how she smells and feels. I've just put some of her claw clippings and fur in with her ashes. I do remember our posts now. And you...

Hi Mollycat,
No not yet. It was the emergency vet and they don't have the rotas, so I've left a message for her to call me.

Re: Just a tribute to my boys
Yes that does make sense, especially the bit about it being their birthright as a wild animal. I just hate to think of her being aware she was struggling to breathe whilst I took her to the vets. The emergency vets is a two minute drive for me, so even if Oody was aware, it wouldn't have been for lo...

Re: My old cat went into a coma in her sleep
Yes it was two cough like noises Oody made now come to think of it. But other's I've had put to sleep who had a sedative before the anaesthetic, have never made any noise. I know I'm looking for the perfect death - completely stress free, and like you say, I will never know for sure, and I know I sh...

Re: My old cat went into a coma in her sleep
Did I say that to you? I'd not posted in here for ages. But thankyou so much. Have tears in my eyes here again. I know she was lucky and she gifted me by dying peacefully (I hope) so I didn't have to make that decision. I've been grieving her for years thinking she didn't have long left. She had CKD...

Re: Just a tribute to my boys
Oh God Molly, beautifully written and has bought a tear to my eye. It's so hard isn't it. I know our cats are so lucky to have us, but it doesn't really help the pain we feel. Will you get more animals?

Cats dying in their sleep. Unresponsive but alive. Any experiences?
My Oodyboo went to sleep with me at midnight on Wednesday/Thursday having become limp in her hind legs (what is that all about?), and I woke two hours later to find her unresponsive, eyes open but no reaction, twitching slightly and breathing like she was having an excited dream. I wanted to know if...

Re: My old cat went into a coma in her sleep
My little Twitch did the same. She was twitching a lot, but I think that was just neurons firing, she wasn't conscious. I take great comfort that she died as I held her, so if she was aware in any way I comforted her. I think your Oodyboo knew nothing of what happened, it's really good that you wer...

Re: My old cat went into a coma in her sleep
Oh God Kay, thankyou. I do feel so lucky because I do think it was peaceful for her. But I still worry that she suffered, we just can't ever be sure can we. The vet told me Oodyboo was indeed unconscious when I took her in. She was unconscious when I woke up two hours later. I blew into her mouth an...
