Re: Traumatised by dog attack
Thank you both very much for your sense of urgency, as soon as I read your e-mails this morning I contacted my local Blue Cross animal hospital and they saw Jordi immediately and treated him. He had a puncture wound from a tooth, with hardened and swollen flesh around it. Fortunately, there was no t...

Traumatised by dog attack
My cat was attacked by a Scottie dog three days ago, since when he's been unusually quiet, turned in on himself and unresponsive except when I tried to stroke him, when he snarled and spat and yowled and once bit my hand quite hard, which he'd never normally do. Today I think I managed to locate an ...

Re: Discharge from eye
Re toxic products, I bought some anti-bacterial floor wipes the other day and just happened to read the small print, which said not to allow cats to walk on any surface that had been wiped with them until it was dry, as if they walked on a still-damp surface and then licked their paws they'd be like...

Discharge from eye
One of my cat's eyes is half-closed and in the morning when he wakes up there's a slight discharge from it. He doesn't seem to be in discomfort. Could I treat this myself, or is it likely to be serious?
Any advice very gratefully received,
John

Re: Retired. Interestedin fostering but on state pension
Hello I'm trying to rehome my very handsome 3-year-old male black cat, Jordi. I adopted him when he turned up starving on my doorstep in Fulham a year and a half ago. I'm a pensioner, I spend half my time renovating a little cottage in Normandy, one month there, one in London. This has proved to be ...

Re: home offer for rescue cat
Yes I have asked for a direct rehoming from local rescue centres, but so far without success. I don't want him to spend time in a cage in a rescue, waiting indefinitely.

Re: home offer for rescue cat
Hi I'm very sorry I havent replied sooner. I took Jordi to my little cottage in Normandy, where he had the best time, lost all his urban edginess, and proved to be a real country cat and brilliant mouser. Now he's evidently very **** off to be back in London, where he gets hassled by 2 obese chocola...

I am still trying to find a home for Jordi, a very handsome and characterful black cat about 3 years old, who turned up on my doorstep starving and desperate. He's neutered and chipped and inoculated against rabies, and badly needs a loving home. I can bring him to you

I couldn't bear to put Jordi in a cage in a cat rescue centre. I think he might be happy in a sociable context with other pets.

Re: home offer for rescue cat
Hello
I rescued a very handsome black cat who turned up starving and desperate on my doorstep, had him neutered and chipped, gave him a name (Jordi) and am trying to find him a permanent home. He's about 3 years old, very streetwise, playful and affectionate. I can bring him to you.

I rescued a most handsome black cat, who turned up starving and desperate at my door, in August last year. I have been trying for some time to find him a permanent home. He's about 3, chipped and neutered, named Jordi, very streetwise having lived rough on the street, playful, sentimental, affection...

You could try AngloInfo for your region in France, to put you in touch with English people in the area. The site has a Pets section. Or your local SPA in France might know a cattery or fosterers

Re: Cat very friendly then defensive/aggressive. Help!
What you say about your cat is a bit like the way mine used to behave, and occasionally still does. He turned up starving and stray on my doorstep, and had two strategies for getting food: affectionate, by rubbing against my leg, and threatening, by hissing and spitting, and used both together, indi...

Re: I rescued this starving stray but can't keep him
I think there's a new, aggressive cat in the neighbourhood, as Jordi has a little wound on his ear and I've just noticed he keeps licking himself at a place on his side he won't let me touch, so you may be right.

Re: I rescued this starving stray but can't keep him
I haven't worked out how to 'quote', but in answer to your points I don't think Jordi's behaviour for those couple of days is explicable as fear that I was going to hurt him, as that would be completely out of character. I do think he was maltreated by previous owners (and perhaps also when he was s...

Oh that makes so much sense! Thank you so much for that piece of impeccable psychology. It's comforting to find that there's a rationale to some aspects of this, even though it's still irritating.

Re: I rescued this starving stray but can't keep him
Thank you Jacks for your advice. Jordi seems to drift off into some kind of self-induced coma when he travels by car, so that he doesn't really need calming. He seems listless and unhappy, and the worst part is that he has to spend several hours on his own in the car on the ferry. I hope he'll get u...

Re: I rescued this starving stray but can't keep him
Thanks very much for your replies. A reliable cat-sitter would be ideal, but I don't know anyone who can leave their own home for a week at a time.
I think Jordi will get used to my absences, and about one time in three I can take him with me as he's very happy in France, though hates the travel.

Re: I rescued this starving stray but can't keep him
Hi Jacks I'm not good with computers so not sure if my e-mail to you would have succeeded. As you say, Jordi is very devoted, in a wholehearted way that I associate with dogs, not the haughty feline race! Like your cat, he comes trotting down the street when called, though he slows to a casual saunt...

I rescued this starving stray but can't keep him
A very handsome black cat turned up in my neighbourhood, starving and desperate. I gave him food outside the front door for a few weeks, then, though he seemed semi-feral, I took him in, had him chipped and neutered, gave him a name (Jordi), and have been rewarded by seeing his character transform t...
