Hungry cat

The vets has put one of mine on a diet. He's 3.5 y/o and and has been at 6 kilos for the past couple of years however last check up he had gone up to 6.5 kilos and has developed a big of a sag! They recommended a dry obesity management food. I'm following guidelines for his size but he's always so h...

Re: Sneezing

One of mine started sneezing in the middle of the night a couple weeks ago, about 10/15 in a row, he's never sneezed before ever and it woke us up and we were panicking a bit as it was almost like he couldn't breathe but he settled back to sleep afterwards and that was that. No idea what caused it, ...

Re: Car oil

Thanks all. It disappeared overnight in the end. Maybe the other one gave him a lick or he's quite fond of cleaning his head on this big bush outside! Next time I'm at the vet, I'll pick up some cat shampoo, I'd probably just dab the patches rather than give him an actual proper shampoo.

Car oil

Any ideas on what I can use to get car oil off a cats head/ears?! Wet tea towel/paper towels are doing nothing and I don't think using soap is a good idea. Growing up we had a cat who always used to get car oil on his ears but my parents weren't that precious over the furniture but we have a new sof...

Re: best litter

As it's been said, everyone has their own preference - I really couldn't get on with the clumping kind at all. I tried every single type of cat litter on the market and my all time favourite was Breeder Celect, it's in most pet shops/supermarkets with a cute ginger kitten on the bag. It's recycled p...

Re: Converting standard burglar alarm to pet friendly one?

Yeah they do exist! It's nothing to do with not picking them up at low levels or anything as my parents cats jump all over the place, on top of kitchen cabinets, etc! I think it's to do with the size of them it doesn't pick up. They aren't sure of the make, a local alarm company came out and did it ...

Converting standard burglar alarm to pet friendly one?

This is most likely a question I need to ask an alarm company but thought I'd check here first! I was wondering if anyone knew anything about converting standard alarm systems into pet friendly ones? We moved about a year ago and the house has an alarm, but we can only use it when we go on holiday a...

Re: Poorly kitty? Or frightened kitty? I just don't know :

Indorex is amazing, you just need to glance at the amazon reviews. Mine both had fleas when we collected them from a farm when they were kittens, there were in a horrible barn. However a day or two after they were treated and that was that, haven't seen a single flea since, but we still treat them e...

Re: Cat won't use cat flap

I think if you just keep her in, but with it unlocked the overwhelming need to go out will eventually make her use it.. Don't open a door/window to let her in otherwise she'll never use it. She will then use it to come in for food. I have a Sureflap one and it is great, but the first week or so I ha...

One of mine is on Hills Prescription Z/D food which is like a sticky pate consistency. It's made his teeth completely brown, but he can't have anything biscuity as he gets severe skin reactions. The vet gave me some toothpaste and a toothbrush which was pretty much impossible to do, so she gave me s...

Great name! He'll get used to all the sounds of the house very quickly I'm sure. Mine used to be scared of the vacuum and bolt, but now they don't even blink when I turn it on and usually follow me round the house whilst I'm doing it.

I had 3 litter trays for my 2 kittens. The only times they didn't use them was when they needed a clean! I used to clean them all out every 7 days, but after switching to every 5 days I never had a problem again. They go outside now but I still keep one on the landing, but it only gets used once eve...

Random fight

Last night our two cats (brothers) who haven't ever spent a day apart had a massive fight in the house. We keep the bedroom door shut but all the running and hissing and meowing woke us up and the smaller one was so scared he jumped into our room straight away and hid behind the curtain. He has a ti...

Re: Dental & subsequent biscuit intolerance

One of mine is on Hills Z/D prescription food, which is ultra allergen free. I describe it like pate! It's very soft and slimey, might be good? The vet is concerned it is browning his teeth though so maybe not ideal. He has seaweed sprinkled on top at the moment to try and help with the plaque and I...

This is so sad. Don't feel like you left him, you were there late in the evening and first thing in the morning. It was just his time to go. I'm not sure if vets to post mortems to try and find out the cause?

Re: CAT NEEDS OPERATION, VET BILL EXTORTIONATE. HELP

Would they let you pay in instalments? I think most vets offer something like this, I know mine does. Most vets will want to help, they won't want to see an animal suffering. Please look into insurance though, I'm always telling friends to get it, one of mine had a skin condition that just came out ...

Myself and my other half had 2 kittens in a city centre flat for a year and it was stressful. I wouldn't do it again. Oh no! When my two were kittens, we luckily only had one pee/bed incident. We had more problems with them peeing on the carpet in corners of rooms. We tried everything the internet suggested, various sprays, citrus fruits, pepper! Northing really worked, the only thing that worked was moving furnitu...

Feeding 2 cats different foods/habits - Advice needed!

I'll try and keep this as simple as possible! I have two cats. One is on prescription food. The other one is on normal food. I have to watch them eat every single meal as the one on normal food is greedy and a fast eater and will barge the other one out the way and eat his food. The one on prescript...

I would go with a cattery. I personally wouldn't like someone coming into my house every day. How much is a cat sitter compared to a cattery? We have an amazing one near us and we've put our two into catteries on and off from when they were kittens and they don't mind at all. I think in a cattery th...

If you can't put them outside I'd just close them in a room for the day. Spray the whole house and then do the room they were in before you go to bed.
