Re: Someone please help - Cat Diarrhoea Probelms

It may be that you have solved your problem by now but I had the same problems when I adopted my cat Ziva five years ago. The one thing that produced miraculous results was to give Ziva Purina One Sensitive dry food and gradually over a week or so replace the whiskas she was eating with this. Unfort...

Re: They can spot a flea treatment a mile off!

Ziva is the first cat I have had who hates her flea treatment. I have to hide the tube and try to wait until she is asleep. Stronghold requires an iron squeeze to get it all out and Ziva's thick fur just never seems to want to show that little white line of skin I yearn for! I think I have it in the...

Re: Cattery Complaint

Well this is outrageous and I think it must be from a troll! If not I hope they have very deep pockets because I cannot imagine that any legal process would find the cattery at fault in any way and the time and money would be wasted. A good legal advisor would not recommend any legal action. I have ...

Re: Fast breathing

Ziva is the same in the heat. Sometimes she breathes fast and shallow and then when she is asleep her breathing returns to normal. I had a cat who had breathing difficulties and the breathing was laboured and quite different from this and she used to wheeze at the same time. I think this is because ...

Re: Advice needed urgently please my cat may be PTS!! :( :(

Do you live near Guildford or could you get there easily? If so, I would ask your vet to consider referring him to Fitzpatrick referrals. This man is wonderful and often finds solutions to these cases when other vets do not have the expertise. He is honest and if he thinks amputation is the best cho...

Re: taking kitten to visit new litter????

I would not put your kitten through this. We all love our cats but it is a big mistake to think that they see the world as we do and would appreciate the opportunity to to 'pick' a new friend from a litter. Give your cat time to settle and get to know her. The risk from disease both to your kitten a...

Re: Opinions on Purina Pro Plan?

Hi

I used Purina Pro Plan sensitive dry for a few months after my cat had really watery bloody stools. It cured her virtually overnight and she was happy on that plus JWB wet. Unfortunately she had a bout of stress related cystitis so now only eats wet JWB.

Re: GOING ON HOLIDAY SOON - BARNEY ALONE CARED FOR BY IN LAW

Go and have a lovely holiday. I am the same but I do enjoy my holidays once Ziva is in her holiday accommodation! Of course, at the end of the holiday I am not sad like the other people but delighted at the thought of seeing my girl again. Take care Judy xx Ps I have to go through it in two weeks!

Re: GOING ON HOLIDAY SOON - BARNEY ALONE CARED FOR BY IN LAW

Well you are not alone! Whenever I take Ziva (or my past cats) to my excellent cattery when we go away, I take a detailed list of what she needs and it is as if the cattery owner has never even seen a cat before! Luckily she understands and even has a box of tissues on the desk at reception. Have a ...

I am so sad to read this. You did the very best for her and it is hard to realise it at the time but to let them have their peace is the biggest thank you we can give for all the years of love they give us.

Re: Cat has got the wind up!

Hi She calmed down a lot last night when the wind dropped and is her old self this morning. At this time of year there is a lot going on with the birds etc and I think that perhaps wind gusting round the garden and whistling down the chimney was a bit too much stimulation! Ziva is doing fine now wit...

Cat has got the wind up!

Hi Does the wind affect cats? My Ziva does the odd bit of dashing around but today she is running about like mad every time the wind blows. I must say that it is quite strong today. She is also doing that stop and scratch behaviour when they are displacing excess energy. She has not got fleas and is...

Re: Kitten, 3 mo, inconsistant pinkish mucus in stools - Hel

Hi I had the same problem with a cat I adopted and was scared stiff when she started having runny, bloody and very very smelly stools! I took her to the vets and they tested her for worms, found nothing. So we wormed her but it still carried on and then Mark from this forum said he thought it was di...

Re: My cat is giving up :(

I cannot stop thinking about your girl. I am certain that this is not a case of giving up and that she needs to see a vet now. Cats who 'give up' don't usually clean themselves. I have had cats who are sick and cleaning is the last thing they want to do. She is far too young to be acting this way. T...

Does your vet have emergency cover? I am sure if they have and you explained the symptoms they would want to see her straight away!

Re: My cat is giving up :(

Please do not wait to see whether or not she gets worse before you take her to see a vet. It is irrelevant that she saw one three months ago. Elderly cats can get ill quickly and you need to get someone to see her as a matter of urgency as her condition is serious and is not a matter of her just giv...

Re: It's Baby Bird Season again...

Great reminder although Ziva has been very interested in all the bird activity in the garden. Since we have had her we have always kept her in from late afternoon until about 0930am and she is not stressed out at all by this it is the routine she has got used to. The birds also seem to realise this ...

I also have a concern about the repercussions which result from the media treatment of this topic. In the past it has been clearly demonstrated how easily some sections of society can be whipped up into a frenzy over such things and I would not be at all surprised to find animal shelters overwhelmed...
