Re: Injury from fighting
And if Ted could talk he'd say, 'Yeah, but you should see the state of the other guy!' Bad lad for fighting! He'll be over the worst of it now but the bathing and draining always takes time. Get well soon Ted :) Haha! He would! We actually said we dread to think what the other cat looks like ...

Injury from fighting
Poor Ted got some nasty injuries from fighting yesterday. At first I only noticed a tiny scratch on his nose- it stood out because his nose is all white, but I failed to spot the major injuries at first. It wasn't until he was acting really quiet and refusing food that I suspected something more was...

Re: Cats nose bleeding?
Took Ted to vets finally. She gave him an anti inflammatory and said to check that the blood in his nose is blood by wetting a tissue when I wipe his nose as she said it could be dirt, but I highlighted that it is the same side each time which she said was odd and just said to take him back if it do...

Cats nose bleeding?
Teds right nose started bleeding last August. Not a heavy bleed at all but the dried blood was always up his nose. Of course when I googled it all sorts of horrible things show up like cancer... At the time I took him to the vet and she just said if it was the same a week later to investigate. It cl...

But he not exactly staying at any weight just getting bigger and I would like to get him down to 5.5 if possible. sick cat after vaccine?
So I debated about getting Ted his vaccines after a bad experience with my cat jimmy but I took him in for it today and now he is all dazed, quiet, sleeping a lot and refusing food which he NEVER does. Is this normal after a vaccine? I don't remember him being like this last year:(

pet insurance?
Do you think it is worth it? or is it just better putting that money away every month?
We got insurance out for the first time ever this year which is around £16 a month for two cats but we have to pay the first like 70ish anyways... just wondering what everyone does and if it is worth it?

Re: To vaccinate or not?
Our insurance does say if they get anything a vaccine would prevent and they have not had it then they will not pay. I am still so undecided. I just keep putting it off:\ I just would hate to think I am taking my perfectly healthy cat for a vaccine that is meant to protect him and he gets something ...

Re: To vaccinate or not?
I think I would consider where you live too - fairly rural and I probably wouldn't worry too much about vaccinations. But if an area where potential for lots of contact with other cats then I think I would vaccinate. A difficult situation though! :( I would say there are another 4 near by that he h...

Re: To vaccinate or not?
I must admit that I vaccinate older cats less and less often - anually up to double figures and then every 2 years, then and so on. How old is Ted (I'm sorry I don't remember)? Having said that, I've often had a few sniffles and an off day after a jab but never anything worse. Ted is 4 and is as fa...

Re: To vaccinate or not?
It's funny you should post this today. I have just got the reminder for Bobby's booster vacs. and I'm wondering the same thing myself. I always made sure mine get there first vaccinations, but after doing some research on human vaccines and the sxxx they contain, I am not so sure any more. It is es...

Re: To vaccinate or not?
That's a tough one given your experiences, and I can't say whether they were related to the jab or not. I'd suggest you talk it through carefully with your vet. But having nearly lost our Siamese to cat flu (long ago, in the days when boarding kennels didn't insist on vaccination - we only just got...

To vaccinate or not?
Ted is due his yearly flu jab, he has had it once or twice before and has seemed okay after. However I feel really hesitant about it this time around mainly because I noticed when my other seemingly healthy cats had theirs that they seemed to always get issues with sneezing, infected eyes, typical f...

Anyone else's cats dislike fish and fish flavoured cat food? My two have always been this way and will very rarely eat any. Recently Ted won an applaws comp and the sent him loads of yummy food but unfortunately a lot of it was fish based and typically he refused along with his brother! I did howeve...

have you tried adding olive oil to his foods? I know any mushy cat food sets ours off.
