Re: FIV cat not himself and vet is stumped!

I am also surprised that the Vet gave him his booster at the same time as antibiotics and especially as he was poorly with an abscess. I am wondering about this. I don't do the boosters for my cats, not since my oldest nearly died after a set. Antibiotics work in strange ways. He ca be having a rea...

Do you buy Christmas gifts for your cats?

So I have always done this since my first cat growing up. I remember my father would take me and let me pick out gifts for my cat, the dogs, the birds, the hamsters... I loved it. Since then, I always get any pet I own a gift on Christmas and on their birthdays. My oldest knows when it is close to h...

Do you care for strays?

When I was younger, my mother used to yell at me for feeding strays on the porch. Eventually, she started doing it too! So I am wondering, how many of you feed your local strays? If I see a cat looking for food or digging through trash, I make a point to give them food. If they run, I leave it where...

Re: cat health & behaviour

I agree ^^^

She likely became a litter stressed and is nervous. Give the litter box an option while it is cold. I would make it a habit of having one in the house when the weather is cold, and taking it away when it is warm. They will learn the schedule.

How do you feel about declawing?

I always ask this to cat lovers. I am firmly against it myself. I saw it done first hand several times and I know the medical process behind it, it is not pretty! Many clinics aren't doing it anymore because it is considered "cosmetic" and inhumane.

How do you feel about it? Discuss.

Re: Found stray took to vets and FIV positive

That is good you have taken him in. I know so many people that would give up and move on. "My question is whats the future problems, lifestyle he and I will have to cope with..." You won't know until they happen. Some cats can live with FIV happy and free from major problems their whole li...

Re: FIV pillow feet

Feline plasma cell pododermatitis does happen with FIV but also can happen to a cat without FIV. That is not the cause of the pillow feet. Unfortunately, because the pads are infected when they are inflamed, you want to be very cautious what touches them. Some cats enjoy ice or a fan blowing on thei...

Something worth sharing

A friend of mine has a cat who was found outside. He was front declawed but appeared to be homeless. She took him in. A few days after, he began spraying everywhere. He did it on anything left on the floor, clothes - towels - shoes, ect. Mind you, he is fixed. This went on for about 9 months. What w...

Re: Night time disruptive behaviour- any advice?

We were at the stage where he would wake me at 2am or so and I would put him in the lounge with his food and bed etc and shut him in, then go to bed with earplugs as he would complain loudly for 10 mins before settling down and hearing him meow stresses me as I worry he is upset. I would like to po...

Re: More X-rays for kitty ??

I have seen this happen quite a few times. Sometimes it was the drugs (bad reaction) other times, it was damage that was there, but made worse from medication. I know how you feel. My now 10 year old was fine until he got his first shots. In spite working for a vet, he never got his second round. I ...

Re: Introducing my Cat to the outside

Don't worry about hissing. She is protecting her turf! I would ease into it before giving her complete freedom. I, myself, prefer to walk my cats when I am outside. I have my whole life. I don't fee safe letting them go out on their own. We have hawks in the area, dogs that roam yards, no thanks! Wa...

Re: Hi I am new =^_^=

Some cats will keep their eyes slightly dilated due to joy. I know this sounds nuts, but this is common in kittens and young adults. Completely normal. What can be something to worry about is if one is dilated and one is not. Then they have to see a vet asap. Sometimes, if a kitten is in the dark fo...

Food question

So my older cat has a habit of being super picky. My kitten will eat anything and I have him on Wellness. Problem is, the older cat snubs it! He refuses to eat anything other than junk foods like Whiskas. I don't like using dry, but I have yet to find a better option for him. He will eat certain dry...

Re: Help! Think ive given my cats to a hoarder

Do you have any proof that you had the cats prior to giving them to her? Unfortunately, because you willingly gave them to her, it is not likely you will get them back. If she does own 12 cats and it is in poor conditions (you have to know for sure!!) you can report her. I know a woman who owns 14 c...

Re: LOST CAT SMALLFIELD/HORLEY

I know how hard this can be. My one cat (I had previous to a relationship ending) got out near a store and was missing for a handful of days. I couldn't eat. Do you know if she just simply got out the house or if she got loose somewhere not close to home?
