Re: Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with kitten flat chest syndrome?

Hi Mark, I've had 2 in the rescue over the years, sadly the first one didn't make it but her chest wasn't just flat is actually caved inwards and she got repeat chest infections and we lost her at 10 weeks, the other one however was a litter of 7 and at about 2 weeks she started to drop weight and t...

Re: Feline Epilepsy

It's quite likely the other cats may be a little scared of her if they've witnessed the seizures. I have a cat who has seizures in his sleep and his brother (who I have sadly lost to fip) used to get really annoyed with Roo when he had seizured and hiss and growl at him. Unfortunately all anti seizu...

Re: Tough decision on infected cat - probable FIP

it means if you are thinking of trying to rehome him for the time he has left you will struggle to find someone willing to take on a terminally ill cat as not many people will want to. The few people that will consider taking cats like that on are few and far between and usually already have a house...

Re: Tough decision on infected cat - probable FIP

I'm so sorry to hear this, I run a rescue and have lost 2 cats to it over the years it's just devastating. I know you will want to follow vets advice but fip is not contagious and if your cat has a brother then potentially he could already have it as it mutates from the corona virus which is contagi...

Re: Help for ferals in Bucks/Chilterns?

We have joined all the Herts, beds and bucks equine Facebook pages and relocate all our ferals that way. Just search the areas and then words like equine or horse and join all the groups that come up. Pictures always help too. We have a drop over basket but it's a normal transfer basket that bottom ...

Re: Semi-Feral Cats

We relocate feral cats continually through the Facebook equine pages, so basically search the words 'Coventry equine' 'Coventry horse' and join all the groups that come up and advertise them on these groups (pictures always help) with a little write up saying will catch vermin for a meal and a bed e...

Re: Fip :(

Thanks Mark and Booktigger! Most sites incl Dr Addie seem to suggest titres that high mean the cat has 94% chance of full blown fip, but there is still a lot of doubt, I'm also really worried because they were so injured when they arrived that after 10 days isolation I integrated them with my 5 cats...

Fip :(

Has anyone on here got experience of really high corona virus titre tests on a cat displaying symptoms of being unwell but not deathly ill, and have they gone on to develop fip? Poor skippy and roo were found in a black sack badly beaten at Christmas, they had dreadful injuries, and skippy had to ha...

I'm not sure I will ask about polyps, I don't think it's tonsillitis as its too far down the throat *i think*
She is so much more comfortable on the steroids so that's the main thing I guess....

Re: Throat cancer

Thanks, didn't know cats could get that, but her glands aren't up either so guess not highly likely, it's further down into her throat than you could see on a cat, could only see it with the scope and her unconscious so her tongue was right out.

Mmm that's very strange but I guess backs up the issue that you can never tell what's going on in the areas you can't see!
She is covered with antibiotics too but they are fairly confident its growth tissue as opposed to infection unfortunately.

Throat cancer

Has anyone on here for any experience of a cat with throat cancer? My poor Meg is only 2.5 but she has already had a severe bout of pancreatitis and was diagnosed 6 months ago with hip dysplasia, luxating patella and a spinal cord issue for which she is on forever metacam for. She is a bit of an odd...

Re: Rehoming a predatory cat

Hi Andy, I am involved in cat rescue and we re home a lot of feral cats to farms and stables and they love good hunters but it really depends how domesticated your cat is as to whether it would be fair.... If she is in by the radiator when it's cold then an outdoor home wouldn't be the best setting ...

Re: Advise on catching my cat

Really trapping is the least stressful way of getting him, and fastest. You can take the end panel off the trap and feed him in it for a few days to get him used to it and then set it, or get yourself a medium dog crate and put food at the back, and you would need to tie string to top and bottom of ...

Re: Advise on catching my cat

Hi Pauline
By far the easiest way will be to borrow a trap off a local rescue or cats protection, then when he goes in for the food just cover trap with a towel and take him home and let him out when safe and secure at home.
Good luck!

Gosh yes it is, I just read the about section on Facebook and Kaiser is just like lil bub :D
I'm so pleased there is hope he will grow like lil bub as so far the vets have been quite doom and gloom, esp since he currently has a rattle on his lungs....
Thank you for that!

Pituitary gland (kitten dwarfism)

Hi has anyone here got any experience of a cat/kitten with dwarfism? I run a rescue and have one with all the symptoms of pituitary gland dwarfism (suggested by vet but he is too young to test yet.) Kaiser is 10-11 weeks now and so dinky, but getting chubby, he is the size of a 5-6 week old with maj...

Re: large nose

Hi yes the little cat I had with it had some special medication the vets had to order in from some specialist or something and once she finished it she was right as rain and eventually re homed (she was a foster cat), it's quite easy to test for, I think it can be swab or blood test.

Do you know her history? It can take a long time to grow so could be something she was exposed to as a kitten? Re: large nose

Cryptococcosis can cause a swollen nose and lymph nodes. It's something cats can catch from pigeon droppings.
Other than that maybe a food allergy?
Good luck hope you get to the bottom of it!

It's sounds like the kitten is fading from dehydration. The vet may be able to save with fluids, it's common in such a large litter for one to always not get enough. I run a rescue and have had many a similar kitten come along.

Re: I'm scared of my CAT! He attacked! HELP! -- New Dog in

Yes you need to back track on the introductions and have the dog confined to a crate or spare room so the cat gets to meet it slowly, with cats its fight or flight and they will attack in fear and sometimes humans will get caught up in it, I have a foster cat at the moment who will attack me if she ...

Re: Hypoglycemic kittens

It depends on a lot of factors, mainly low blood sugar would be a temp thing as when you first get them they may not have been fed for a while, this can be fixed with glucose fluids or a spot of honey on their tongues, or even if desperate a drop of boiled water sweetened with sugar, however if they...
