Re: Is this normal?
I can tell you what I did with my cat's whiskers, but it may not work for you. For years I collected whiskers from all the cats in my life I've known and loved, including a couple from friends' cats. but mostly from my cat Lila who I had to put to sleep earlier this year due to cancer, and Tiggy who...

Re: My new kittens :)
Thank you all! Any advice on post spay care for Gypsy when she goes? I don't know how we'll cope as they hate to be apart, but they love to wrestle, and I don't want Momo to burst her stitches.. :/

Re: My new kittens :)
Ahh that window sill is by the bed :) That#s why they love it! We shut them out at night right now because they're too rambunctious, but the second I let them in in the morning, they fuss all over me for cuddles and then head to the window, so hopefully I can keep getting growth shots of them there ...

My new kittens :)
Ok, so previously I only started posting here when my cat Lila got squamous cell carcinoma at the beginning of this year... and that didn't have a happy ending :'( You guys were great on here and helped me a lot, and I promised I would come out into the rest of the forum once I got more cats! Well, ...

Re: Lila's squamous cell carcinoma journey..
Just wanted to update you all, that we are probably going to be rehoming two kittens soon :) I wanted to post here as it's the only place I've really posted, but I will venture out of this thread, I promise! We're having some builders come to do a couple of bits next week, which should hopefully tak...

Re: Cat chew toy ideas for an annoyed teacher
Citrus. Supposedly cats hate the smell and taste of citrus fruits, especially lemons. i say Supposedly as I had a cat that used to like to actually play with orange peel  (there's always one, right??) but it's not harmful I don't think, but will check. I'd rub the pens/pencils with lemon juice...

Re: Nervous cat
It's cliché, but it's just time. Lila was just the same- so nervous and distrusting, and under socialised as a kitten. We tried the best to take a back sit and let her push the boundaries when she felt up to it, but occasionally give her a gentle prod to try new things. Other than that, I found she ...

I have one more video of her for you, taken last month while she was ill, but not too bad, and her bad side is pointing away from the camera

Re: Lila's squamous cell carcinoma journey..
She passed peacefully at 10am. I will say more when I can. I am relieved and broken all at once. The vet said we did the right thing when he saw her face.

Re: Lila's squamous cell carcinoma journey..
I've asked my husband to book tomorrow off work. We're going to say goodbye tomorrow. I just gave her her meds, and she cried so hard she sounded in agony. Every time I've gone near the room she's hissed at me, just for being upstairs. I'm expecting a supermarket delivery any minute now, and I'm in ...

Re: Lila's squamous cell carcinoma journey..
We had a big discussion, me and the husband. I cried lots. We have agreed, that if nothing else changes either way, serious discussion will be held on Thursday, so we don't make her suffer over a weekend when it's hard to access a vet... If she deteriorates significantly, he's prepared to discuss it...

Re: Lila's squamous cell carcinoma journey..
She was definitely so much better last night. Please don't think I'm letting her suffer, I may have made her sound worse her.. I am taking it all into consideration. She seems very tired during the day, then when night falls, she's very bouncy actually. After a chat last night, my husband and I agre...

Re: Lila's squamous cell carcinoma journey..
I had a talk with the Mr, and he thinks I'm worrying too much... actually since he got home she's perked up, has been looking out of the window and wandering around on patrol. She never ate much even before she was ill, that's part of the problem here. I might be reading into things too much, it's w...

Re: Lila's squamous cell carcinoma journey..
I will have a chat with the husband when he gets home lately... She has been eating her biscuits happily, so I don't know if it's just the medicated food that she's put off. She's always preferred biscuits to wet food, but I can't really put Metacam liquid on biscuits... You might be right. It doesn...

Re: Lila's squamous cell carcinoma journey..
I will try that I think. I put out a tiny bit of Applaws food today with the meds in instead of haddock, as I know cats are neophiles so I thought it might intrigue her, but she took one look and ran off :\ I noticed yesterday that the cat flap is hurting her face now too- she winced when she tried ...

Re: Lila's squamous cell carcinoma journey..
Aww thanks so much. Sadly, the pus is less of an issue right now, it's more just blood. She's not having a good day today. The day started well, I got her from her blanket fort and gave her a huge cuddle before I had breakfast and she purred the second I held her :) I checked on her after I'd...

Re: Lila's squamous cell carcinoma journey..
Lila has been like her old self a lot for the last few days. She's been sleeping less, playful, snuggly and happy. She's been following me around the house, watching what I'm doing like she normally does. I'm trying to stay aware that she will dip again, but for now it's just lovely to have my Lila ...

Re: Lila's squamous cell carcinoma journey..
Is there a reason it would be bleeding other than just irritation? With it's position, she could have stretched it when yawning even :\ I'm not sure about phoning the vet. I suggested it to my husband, and he wasn't sure what they could do... we know she's dying, and we can't give her any more pain ...

Re: Lila's squamous cell carcinoma journey..
Had a little freak just now.. Lila climbed on me for a hug while I was at the computer, all happy and purry.... and blood was dripping out of her mouth :? I dabbed it up pretty quickly, and I think it looked worse than it was (as is the way wioth oral bleeding), but I'm not sure what caused it. Abou...

Wonderfully, I posted abut this on my Facebook, and a friend who's cat recently passed away is sending me one of their heat pads. Isn't that lovely? Re: Lila's squamous cell carcinoma journey..
I changed the title of this thread, as this has become a sort of "diary" of Lila's SCC really. I'm a little worried today, Lila has a very spot since she's been ill, under an acrylic blanket on the spare bed- I'd never seen her do it before, but she worked out how to get in between the lay...

Re: My baby has cancer and I'm a bit lost...
Went how we thought.. there is nothing more to do. Its actually progressed down towards her ear as well as too her lips. it's all ulcerated too. When he opened her mouth it looked like there was a pocket of pus (sorry for the TMI, but it looked very angry and upset) I felt bad for not noticing it ha...

Re: My baby has cancer and I'm a bit lost...
Oooh.. ice-cream, I'd not thought that. I bet it would give her the quits knowing her tummy and any dairy. She didn't even like "cat milk" She's actually finally eating the medicated fish finger now! *dance* She begged a Dreamie off me, (I thought it might pique her interest and set the tu...

Re: My baby has cancer and I'm a bit lost...
She seems a lot better today, so I wonder if she slept on that side and made it saw yesyerday or something. She's going downhill a little now as I put down her fishfinger laced with Metacam over an hour ago, and she's refusing to eat it  The longer she leaves it, the worse she'll feel, and the...

Re: My baby has cancer and I'm a bit lost...
Thanks. I do think I will ask about upping the Metacam, as she's just come bouncing in the room actually, about an hour after her meds were given and she is HAPPY and BRIGHT and herself again. I think she must have been hurting. Perhaps if we got to twice a day it will manage it better, as she's onl...
