Re: Eye problem

As no-one else has answered and I was on here for my own question I guess we don't have any experts for that particular problem with the eye. The only obvious solution is to email your vet or local cats protection and see what they think. Not sure if the photo was on a zoom but it seems like the cat...

Re: Cat litter (including Tigerino query)

Thanks you for all your suggestions- I think the Mollycat suggestion sounds like it might be best for my/my cat's circumstances but will move onto the others if that doesn't work as well as I hope it might. Hoping that Tigerino come back though as was working very well even if there was a lot of scr...

Cat litter (including Tigerino query)

We have an elderly cat (going to be 21 around end of April) and on plenty of meds for IBS (possibly cancer but being diagnosed with one of the two nearly a year ago I'm leaning towards IBS) and Hyperactive thyroid. Controlled as best as possible but plenty of drinking and weeing on a regular basis. ...

Re: Can you tell if a cat is in pain.

Just want to thank Molly for the advice. For all I know the vets would have suggested this anyway but I mentioned this and they gave her a 5 day steroid to test her out and this has worked perfectly- back to her old self, solid poo, appetite back and just generally happy. She now moves onto a 4-6 we...

Re: Can you tell if a cat is in pain.

Thanks- sounds like the Cobalaplex is useful then and I guess that is one of the reasons for her blood tests coming back good. Never got around to asking the vet about this one as there were more important things to worry about- assumed it was to help her tummy upsets. No problem getting her to eat ...

Re: Can you tell if a cat is in pain.

Thanks you for the replies. For the IBS she is on Metronidozole which I believe is part steroid, part antibiotic. She simply will not take this- they gave her tablets and then liquid and for both she detects instantly and refuses to eat the food. She also has cobalaplex which she does take but I'm n...

Can you tell if a cat is in pain.

We have a 19 year old cat with hyperactive thyroid and also either IBS or bowel cancer. The vets did an ultrasound which showed thickening of the stomach linings (not sure if right description) but without an intrusive biopsy, which they don't recommend at her age, there is no way of telling which i...

Re: Never knew it was so bad!

Just to give a semi happy ending to the story- the person we know has now found somewhere for the cat to stay temporarily while she sorts things out. From my person experience I would suggest family and friends really is the best path at the moment unless there is something seriously urgent like med...

Re: Never knew it was so bad!

Thanks for the replies. I am trying that contact but via e-mail as the minute I get a recorded message (which is so often the case on my ring rounds) my heart drops... For what it is worth we are in the Wigan area. Even a waiting list would be a step forward but I haven't found anyone yet. @ Crewell...

Never knew it was so bad!

I probably just need to let off some steam here so please be tolerant if this seems like a semi rant but I have spent the best part of two days fretting about trying to get someone help in housing a cat and no joy. It seems that all the animal shelters in the North West are absolutely full such that...
