Re: Cat stopped eat dry cat food - any ideas?

Very likely a dental issue. I had a similar problem with my Rosie, she usually eats wet with a bowl of dry available to snack on during the day which got noticeably ignored. She had bad teeth when we took her from her previous owner so in the end it was just a matter of removing build-up and extract...

Re: Neighbours continue to let my cat into their house!

Oh that's soooo sad, I'm so sorry, the poor thing! That must have been so terrible for you, having him disappear like that. At least you took him in and gave him a loving home and enabled him to live a long and happy cat life. He must have loved you very much!

Re: Lola suddenly out all night?!

That sounds like somebody has started letting her in at night. Are there new neighbours in the neighbourhood? Do you know your neighbours well? You could ring a few doorbells and ask if people have seen Lola visiting people or if they might know where Lola might spend the night. I can totally unders...

Re: That explains a lot!

Yeah, but I think bog is probably better than bird poo... Rosie came in 2 weeks ago one evening and went straight into the guest bedroom for a nap and I didn't pay much attention as I was on the phone. When she came out 2 hours later, I thought she looked funny and to my horror, she had clearly been...

Re: Neighbours continue to let my cat into their house!

Thanks for your responses Peaches and Mrs kane! What a nice story with Choppers, it really sounds as if he was quite determined to move in with you and how good of you to let him! Cats really have a mind of their own... Rosie is at home every afternoon when I come back from work which is nice and I ...

Re: Neighbours continue to let my cat into their house!

To be honest, they mainly let her in during the day now. We had terrible problems at the beginning when they would let her in when she was out on her evening round but that's not the case anymore. I want to have Rosie's interest at heart so what you are saying about a compromise makes total sense - ...

thanks for both your responses! I don't want shared ownership, I want my Rosie all for myself :? to be fair, we're working most of the day so it is probably a company thing. she's spotted regularly in the street accosting passers by... We actually jokingly said once to them to share the vet bi...

Neighbours continue to let my cat into their house!

Hi, neighbours across the road continue to encourage Rosie into their house and then keep her inside for hours! She keeps going over there and sits in front of their door because they keep letting her in and are giving her treats. We have spoken a MILLION times to them, asking them to stop since we ...

Re: Cat flap setting 'Entry only'

I wouldn't put it past her figuring it out...especially because the cattery she stayed at in April had a cat flap to her outside run that could be pushed from the outside to come in but in order to go out the cats had to pull it inwards! It was designed like that and the cattery people assured me th...

Re: Cat flap setting 'Entry only'

Thanks for both your responses. I'm absolutely paranoid about Rosie I have to admit and am always second guessing what I'm doing so not to upset her. She only moved in with us a year ago but we've known her for 4 years after we moved to the area. She was the friendly neighbourhood cat who could be s...

Cat flap setting 'Entry only'

Hi, does anyone have experience with using the 'Entry only' setting on their cat flaps? We are locking our cat flap at night and put a cube foot stool in front to take away access to the flap so that Rosie knows it's bed time and doesn't get confused why the flap doesn't open anymore. We are going a...

Re: Nailbed infection in cats

We tried to bathe her paws at the beginning - vet said we could try saline bath if Rosie lets us, just clear some of the crusty stuff. Total disaster, cat flipped out when we tried so we left it. Vet said not to force her (as if we could) and ABs would do their job. It's improved somewhat when she c...

Re: one of my cats still using the litter tray !!

My mum has an 8 yr old rescue cat who has been with her for a year and a half. Izzy only uses her litter tray, never goes outside. Its quite funny at times. She can be out for hours, then demand to be let in to do her business and immediately wants back out! :D

Thanks Kay. I will try the Feliway diffuser a few days before we go away to see how she reacts to it and if all is well use it during our break!

Nailbed infection in cats

Hi, does anybody have experience with nailbed infections in cats? My poor Rosie has been on antibiotics for 2 weeks for a nailbed infection on all 4 paws. Vet doesn't quite know what caused it, could be some irritant outside - there's a buildingsite down the street that she likes to visit - or even ...

Re: going away for two weeks, worried about my sofina

Hi, it's a bit late to chip in on the subject but I think a reliable cat sitter is a really good option. My cat Rosie who is 15 and who we adopted from a neighbour who moved away has been in a cattery twice and wasn't too thrilled afterwards. The cattery was lovely, each cat had a nice room and an i...

Re: Keeping outdoor cat inside whilst on holiday

The other option I thought about was asking the cat sitter to put the cat flap on 'entry only' setting after Rosie has gone out in the morning. That means she can have her morning round which usually lasts 1 - 2 hours and after that she can't go back out, ensuring she's inside when the sitter comes ...

Re: Keeping outdoor cat inside whilst on holiday

Kay, one question on Feliway - do you only use it when they are stressed or can it be used as a preventative? I thought I might use it to prevent her becoming stressed when we're not here and especially if she's kept indoors.

Re: Keeping outdoor cat inside whilst on holiday

Thanks to you all for your input! I think you gave me a couple of good suggestions there. Trying to keep her indoors for a day while we're still around seems a good way to try this out. Although she'll probably drive me nuts, part of me thinks that if she's on her own and can't get out she'll realis...

Re: nasty neighbour

Hi, I agree on the evidence. If you don't manage to take photos/videos keep at least a log of times you see him pester your cat. I would then send him an official letter, recorded delivery and list the occasions you have seen him throwing stones. Ask him politely to refrain from doing so, otherwise ...

Keeping outdoor cat inside whilst on holiday

Hi, I'm new to the forum and hope some of you can give me some advice. We have a 15 year old cat Rosie who we adopted last year when the previous owners moved away. She's an outdoor cat with cat flap, although we keep her in over night and she doesn't tend to go out in the evening. On previously 2 o...
