Re: Hair Loss / Skin Irritation
Thank you Issi. Can I just ask if the 'food' allergy just appeared overnight? Had she previously eaten that type of food and been ok? I would have thought 2 months on hypoallergenic food would have sorted Molly out but maybe not.... I've had to abandon anallergenic as I just couldn't get her to eat ...

Re: Hair Loss / Skin Irritation
Thank you both for your comments.
That's very interesting about the flea treatment. She is due to be treated again soon so will see if that makes any difference.
I will also speak to my vet about piriton.

Re: Hair Loss / Skin Irritation
Hi everyone So, Molly's skin irritation continues....and I don't know what to do next. She (and my other cat) were on a hypoallergenic diet for over 2 months which didn't change anything. We then stopped her joint supplement (no adverse effects luckily) to see if that changed anything - it didn't. I...

Hair Loss / Skin Irritation
Hi One of my cats (Molly who is 10 years old) started over grooming and nibbling at herself a couple of months ago and had a small patch of missing fur with a small sore, so I wondered if she might have fleas. I treated her and my other cat (who was showing no signs) and the house but nothing change...

Toilet training?
Hi I wondered if anyone might have any suggestions to help me train my cats to go to the toilet outside or have I left it too late? My two cats are about 9 years old and were house cats for the first 4 years of their lives (post-rescue) so always used a litter tray. In my old house, I had a covered ...

Teach an old cat new (toilet) tricks?
Hi I have two rescue cats who are now 8 years old. They were house cats for the first 3 years of their lives but for the last 5 years have enjoyed going outside, albeit in short little bursts. My garden doesn't have any loose soil (nor do my neighbours) so I kept up with the litter tray for them and...

I'm so pleased it's been of help.
I don't post on here often (but browse frequently) as I don't have a lot of knowledge to impart!
But when I know something that can help people, I'm more than happy to share!

Re: Neighbours old cat limping
Hi I can really recommend Cosequin as a supplement to help with the joints. One of my cats had a cruciate ligament repair (twice) last year and now has severe arthritis in the joint. My vet recommended Cosequin which I have been sprinkling on her food daily (she seems to love it) since the op but to...

Re: Feisty cat on cage rest
Hi I'm sorry to hear about little Lola's accident - poor thing. I wouldn't worry about her trying to claw at the floor of the cage. Molly did that a lot and woke me up most mornings around 4am doing that. It's not the greatest feeling, knowing that she's desperate to get out but, in my experience, t...

Re: Animal Friends insurance
I have to say I've not had a problem with Animal Friends - they've paid up for everything with me, even when an op had to be redone and I feared they may get difficult. My vets do say that they are notoriously bad at paying out though, but a letter from them should sort things out - Animal Friends c...

Re: Siblings, sister sudden hissing/growling towards brother. Advice please.
I think things will gradually go back to normal. From memory, it was over a week but not more than 2, before I left them unsupervised. I waited until I'd spent most of the weekend at home to monitor them (ears pinned back at night in case of any commotion) and when that passed without incident, I fe...

Re: Siblings, sister sudden hissing/growling towards brother. Advice please.
Hi I had a similar situation a few years ago with my two cats. They're sisters and have always been together since birth (as far as I'm aware) and one day, for no apparent reason, they fell out in a big way. It went a similar way as your two - one was too scared to come downstairs and if she attempt...

Re: Feisty cat on cage rest
Thank you for your replies. It's certainly been a trying time but obviously the most important thing is that we get her leg as well as possible. Especially as the vet has said that if the implant ruptures again, amputation will probably be the only route open to us. I keep the cage in the spare bedr...

Re: Feisty cat on cage rest / Cruciate Ligament
Hi, me again Things didn't go too well with Molly. She managed to rupture her implant after 2.5 weeks, so has had to have the op again. We're now 3 weeks post 2nd op and I just don't know if she's recovering at a good rate or not. Does anyone have experience of a cruciate ligament repair op? I'm ver...

Re: Feisty cat on cage rest
Morning! Just thought I'd give you a little Molly update..... She came home on Thursday to her 2-bay cage(!) and caused a commotion as expected. Food and water everywhere, litter tray upturned.....such a drama queen! Anyway, she eventually settled and was quiet all night. When I go in to feed her in...

Re: Feisty cat on cage rest
Thank you all for your replies. It's always reassuring to hear that others have been through the same thing. I visited Molly at the vets last night and she's doing really well. I can see she's so much stronger and obviously not in pain like she was..........although very grumpy at being confined! It...

Feisty cat on cage rest
Hi all I'm hoping someone might be able to offer some reassurance and/or tips for me and my 7 year old cat, Molly. Molly is a very headstrong and wilful cat who doesn't like to be picked up, handled or contained. Don't get me wrong, she is adorable but things have always been on her terms ever since...
