Anything to soothe a sore spot?
Hi everyone, I took my cat, Twiggy, to the vet last Wednesday, just for her booster vaccination, and while we were there she had a flea treatment and worming tablet that the vet administered. Since then, she has a small bald patch by her shoulders, where she has obviously been scratching, and it jus...

Re: Giving cats tablets - suggestions please!!
Thanks booktigger, I will add it to my list to try! Not sure they're that keen on cheese, but we'll find out!!
These particular antibiotics they are on don't come in injection form - that is our method of choice normally, believe me!!

Giving cats tablets - suggestions please!!
I have two cats, both 11 years old, and both were semi feral when I adopted them at 6 months old, so they are not quite wired the same way as 'normal' cats. They are both on antibiotics at the moment, in tablet form. I can't just get hold of them and pop the tablets down their throats as that would ...

Itchy cats
Hi everyone, a couple of weeks ago I treated my two cats with spot-on flea treatment, a Frontline one. However, they still seem very itchy, and are scratching so much they are leaving tufts of fur around. Their skin doesn't seem too sore, and I can't see any fleas - and I'm not being bitten myself. ...

Re: Zylkene
Hi Emma, One of my cats, Bertie, is on Zylkene on a regular basis. He was semi-feral when I adopted him at six months, and also has learning difficulties and 10 years later and he still becomes very nervous at the slightest thing out of the ordinary. I mix one tab of Zylkene in with his food once a ...

Re: Very poorly cat - heart slowly breaking
Thank you everyone for your hugs and kind words. Twiggy is still very poorly. I have seen her drinking, but she's only taking food by hand, not eating from a bowl any more, but I keep tempting her all the time and she hasn't done too badly actually. I may just be wishing, but she perhaps seems a tad...

Very poorly cat - heart slowly breaking
I went to the vet on Wednesday with my 11 year old moggy, Twiggy. She had diarrhoea and was caught short away from the litter tray. Her anal glands were swollen and she had a temperature, so the vet gave her some antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory injection. We went back the next day, Thursday, sa...

Re: A diet for a sensitive stomach
So sorry for your loss LittlePen. Yep, boredom of the same food has been a problem already, and I've been supplementing her diet with chicken etc. She does like tuna occassionally, but her absolute favourite seems to be turkey ham! I'm tempted to try introducing some of the Hills veterinary diet pro...

Re: A diet for a sensitive stomach
Well I thought we were all sorted. Twiggy has been fine on Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Sensitive, mostly having the dry food. We had a new bag at the end of last week, coincidence perhaps but since then she has been back to being sick every other day, sometimes flem and bile, sometimes food. Back to...

Re: A diet for a sensitive stomach
Hi both, thank you so much for your replies. I will go shopping today for own brand food! She has always seemed to enjoy the fish flavours, and they do say you crave things that aren't good for you, perversely, don't they?! Like me and blackcurrants  She has always been on the jelly pouches rat...

A diet for a sensitive stomach
Hi folks, One of my 9 year olds, Twiggy, has a sensitive stomach. She has always been on Felix pouches, but she can't tolerate that or Wiskas any more. I have been getting Royal Canin 'Sensitivity Control' pouches for her, and Hills dried food... She absolutely adored the pouches to start with, but ...

Re: Recommended senior food?
I have a nine year old with a very sensitive stomach, so she can't seem to digest supermarket brand foods any more, although she's been eating them most of her life so far. I am working my way through the selection on www.vetuk.co.uk to see what suits her, and I came across Natures Menu cat food, mi...

I've just read all of these posts today, so glad it has a happy ending! How wonderful of you to help your little pride of cats. I have two I adopted who were semi-feral and have been with me for 8 years now. They are gorgeous and happy characters, but whenever it comes to treating them for anything ...

Re: Loss of appetite and sickness
I'm happy to report that Twiggy is fit as a fiddle! She is now on a Royal Canin diet for sensitive stomachs and is very obviously happy, content and full! She adores the new food, I just hope she doesn't get bored with it any time soon as there is only one flavour. It's very expensive, but worth eve...

Re: Moving two old cats to a new home / transitioning to indoors only
Over the years I have adopted a number of 'mature moggies' from our local rescue, who are 9+ as they make such wonderful companions and they have all settled in brilliantly. We give them their own room to settle into and have as their base, but it's never long till they have explored the whole house...

Loss of appetite and sickness
Hi there, I have a problem with one of my little ones, and I was wondering if anyone has had experience of something similar? My little cat Twiggy, 8 years old, has recently started having some 'off' days. She won't eat anything, and sicks up flem a couple of times during the day. She's just as live...

Re: Unhappy cat after moving home
I'm sorry to hear your troubles. I have two cats who started life as semi-feral, so live on their nerves a bit! When we moved house I took advice from my wonderful vet and started to give them Zylkene and it worked wonders. http://www.zylkenepet.co.uk/ Our new vet doesn't give it much credit, but it...
