Nettie, so sorry to read your sad story, you must be missing Teddy dreadfully but you made the right choice, it's a decision we all dread and it never rests easy. Hope the good memories are giving you some comfort.

Re: Elderly cat query
Hi Angela, I agree with Lyn....you know best when it comes to what is 'normal'. My old boy used to have all sorts of age-related symptoms, when they get to that age some things can be just normal ageing, others could indicate something more serious. I think the fact that your girl has physical sympt...

Re: Outdoor litter tray
I bought one of those outdoor trays last week and am waiting for it to arrive. My Ernie uses a combination of an indoor tray and the garden but I'm trying to give him as many options as possible as he's recently had some wee-related problems so I thought I'd give this a go. Ernie is a chunky cat wei...

Re: get water into your cat
I agree there is a LOT of water in wet food! I'm just trying to add extra because my boy has had a couple of blockages recently and I will try anything to prevent it happening again.
Thanks hetkermar, that's my Ernie, I think you're just seeing his ear poking out from behind his paw

Re: Vibes for Molly please
Poor Molly. My old boy Bela had a couple of turns like this in his later years and always seemed fine afterwards once the initial disorientation etc wore off. It's very scary to see though. Fingers crossed for the blood tests..

So sorry to read this too :( I hope the vet can give you some advice. I've been there too, it's a tough decision but you will make the right choice for your girl. Sometimes I've thought that the end was nigh in the past and then they've pulled through and had another happy and comfortable few months...

What a lovely picture of Clay
Louise how are things going? I have no experience of this but just wanted to say how sorry I am, I had no idea that dental treatment carried this type of risk. What a shock for you. Hope things are going ok....

Re: get water into your cat
Adding water to food is always a good idea as I've found put recently...I've also found that my boy likes filtered water more than tap water. I've also noticed he is more likely to drink when the water bowl is filled right up to the top so I make sure I change it daily..

Oh Jan I'm so sorry you spent all that money but what a relief he was OK! It's so difficult with animals as they can't tell us if any things wrong and we just have to judge it ourselves, but as you get to know Blackie more you will be more confident in what is normal for him and what isn't. I've bee...

Re: 2nd urinary blockage in 2 months, help please :(
Thank you Crewella and Carol. Ernie has had a good weekend, I am still celebrating every wee in an obsessive manner but we are all starting to relax a little and just hoping that the wet food will keep things flushed through. He's stopped licking himself after each visit to the tray so I think he's ...

Re: Kitten tipping over water bowl.
Hi, definitely try the suggestions above but I have to say some cats just like to do this and you may never find out why and she may never stop! Our old boy Bela did this until the day he died, we had heavy ceramic bowls so he couldn't knock them over anymore but he would constantly flick the water ...

Lionel, Double sounds adorable, I love black cats, how did his vets visit go? Ernie had his follow up visit the other day too and he was clear of infection. I know what you mean about the leftover dry food, I'm not giving him anymore dry food at all and have a huge stash of the stuff in the 'cat cup...

Hi Jan Thanks for the reply and good for you for adopting your Mum's cat. I do hope your mother is getting on ok at the care home. Poor Blackie, I hope he is feeling better. If the cystitis is caused by stress have you tried A Feliway diffuser? This can help especially when a cat is going through a ...

thank you both so much. I will investigate the foods you have suggested. He loves wet and dry food- he is funny with his dry food as he picks each biscuit out individually and chases it around the floor before eating it, it takes him about half an hour to eat his breakfast like this but it's good ex...

Thanks for all the extra info :) Greenkitty...yes I assumed you meant that. but I meant do you have any specific recommendations for a 'good quality' wet food? I find it all very confusing. A lot of the high meat content foods in PAH for instance, say they are not 'complete' foods? Crewella I will t...

Hi all Thank you so much for the replies. Once again apologies for the mammoth post, I was in such a panic and wanted to get it all out I think! I will certainly talk to the vet again. We have to go back Thursday for a checkup. I do find its a problem that every phone call or visit, most of the time...

2nd urinary blockage in 2 months, help please :(
Hi all Apologies for the long post but I’d really appreciate if you could bear with me if you feel you can offer any blockage/urinary diet related advice. I posted a couple of months ago on the previous site about my 7yo cat Ernie who had been hospitalised with a urinary blockage, and had some reall...
