Re: Standing in water
Yes I could put a towel or something underneath. We had a day at the vets yesterday - Blubell savaged the vets hands and left a six inch gouge on the nurses arm. I had to bring her back today to have more tests under sedation which was a week's salary thrown down a big hole abd they said although sh...

Re: Inter-cat aggression, help needed ASAP!
You can't always make cats get on. I've had many cats over the years and they've all got on, up to 4 at any one time. The odd hiss but nothing major. However, the current resident male and female cat took an instant dislike to the new cat three years ago and nothing we have tried makes any differenc...

Surprising cat friendship
Two of my cats Bluebell and Smoky live together downstairs and they have never shown the remotest sign of affection towards each other. They rub along ok without fighting although there is the odd hiss and they always sleep at the opposite ends of their sofa, they won't share a food bowl or noses wi...

Re: 3 legged cat advice please
There is a three legged cat over the road that is outside everyday, is in and out of the cat flap and even runs after birds on the green. He doesn't need any special treatment.

Older cat diets
I've had to stop feeding my cats cat food from supermarkets as the old cats 10 plus have symptoms, Smoky attacks food like it's crack cocaine and Bluebell often has runny bowels and goes to the litter tray a lot. I know there is nothing physically wrong with them as I've had them all seen and tested...

Re: Standing in water
I only ever saw one case of diabetes insipidus (in human) in 30 years of nursing. That was someone who had a psychiatric obsession about drinking water. In the end he died from drinking an excessive amount apparently

Re: Biting cats
I totally agree with all of you, thanks for the understanding. Now Smoky you could put quite happily in a room full of children and he would just swish his tail a bit and there is no chance at all Bluebell will be put down. She is currently lying belly up and her belly is so incredibly tempting :-D ...

Re: Introduction of new kitten to older cat, am I doing it wrong?!
Sounds like you are doing great to me. Cat's don't always get on I have one who has to be seperated from the others permanently, luckily that is possible as a door separates the front and back of the house and can be kept shut. They have been apart for three years and refuse to integrate - there is ...

Re: My cats wont stop scratching my rugs !
The only way I can stop my cats shredding everything Laura is to keep them out of my living room. They live in the back of the house in the dining room and kitchen with a cat flap into the garden and the carpeted area of the house is off limits. They have their own sofa - a cheap one off ebay which ...

Biting cats
I've had my two feral girls for a long time. Willow for 3 years, she was one of CPL's cats that were on the desperate list as she'd been there for so long and was shy and unfriendly. Then Bluebell who I've had for around 10 years considered unhomeable because she has some bad habits with regard to p...

Re: Standing in water
Yes I think it must just be a quirky habit, it's annoying though because she gets water everywhere!!! I will try a deeper container though and see if that stops her. She also likes to knock glasses over, I dare not leave water filled glasses anywhere because she just shoves them over - a couple of r...

Re: Urgent appeal for rehoming a brother and sisiter - Eastbourne or surrounding area.
Wish I could help as I live in Seaford but I already have three cats who live in different parts of the house and don't get on that well. I would never advertise my own cat for rehoming. People use them for dog fighting bait etc and appear quite respectable. If I had to I'd always go somewhere like ...

Feral cats
I have two feral cats who are now lap cats but they dislike strangers. I tell everyone who comes to the house please don't touch the black cats, they will bite you. Invariably the cats show their bellies, the visitor totally ignores my advice and they get bitten, usually when I am not looking. The l...

Re: Anyone know of an animal communicator for deceased pets???
I totally agree with PeanutsFriend, we should never hang onto the deceased, they have places to go and things to do just like the living. They tend to appear to you for around a year after death and then move on, they too feel the rift and the loss and tend to hang around for around that time. Ask t...

Re: Advice needed on escalating vets costs of an older cat
We found our four elderly cats all cost us around £1000 in the 2 years before they died so our current cats were all insured when young. The insurance is very cheap and over 10's have a £150 excess which is a lot better than £1000. We have an account in which we've saved £150 per cat in case of emer...

Standing in water
Hi everyone, I have three cats two were feral but are now tame (eventually). The oldest feral Bluebell who is 10 insists on standing in water to drink and there are watery paw prints all over the house. She only started doing this a year or so ago. I've checked her paws really carefully and the vet ...
