Re: Cat started weeing indoors.

thanks for taking the time to reply Ruth. Just give you some background, Herbie is the cat who is doing the weeing and our other cat, the main coon is called Jeff. I am 100% certain there are no issues between Herbie and Jeff and if anything Herbie is dominant over Jeff on most issues especially as ...

Re: Cat started weeing indoors.

thanks Ruth He has been neutered yes, secondly we have two cats in the house, he lives with a ginger main coon that's three years old, they both have a chipped cat flap so only they can come in and out. There is a cat that sort of lives more or less full time our garden actually. He rarely comes in ...

Cat started weeing indoors.

Hello. Wondered if anyone could give some advice. We have a two year old male cat. He developed a habit in the last six months of sometimes weeing indoors. At first it was in one particular spot in the corner of the room, it then evolved to doing it on anything scrunchy we left on the floor, so some...

Constant scratching on wardrobe door

Wondered if anyone had some advice. Our 1.5 year old cat Jeff has acquired a weird annoying habit in the early hours of the morning. He sits by the white gloss painted wardrobe doors in our bedroom and runs his paws along them to make a really irritating scratching. Thing is he seems to do it with h...

Re: Older cat and new kitten cat flap issues

Sarie. Thanks for the info. Might be worth investing in a dual scan. We already have a microchip cat flap but it only works for cats coming back indoors so exiting is a free for all. Would be handy in the long run anyway as we are trying to train out older one to stay in at night at the moment anyhow.

Re: Older cat and new kitten cat flap issues

why are you planning to keep the kitten in for 6 months? I thought the usual advice was to keep them in until they had completed their initial course of vaccinations, which is around 12 weeks Kay, kittens should never be let out till neutered (and preferably microchipped ). We recommend that kitten...

Re: Older cat and new kitten cat flap issues

What about neutering? Either way I'll have a cat flap cross over issue I think. :-)

Re: Kitten meets kitten

They look fine. Cat play can look pretty rough sometimes but there's no hissing or ached backs so all good. It will calm down after a few weeks I'm certain and they'll be hanging out together like buddies before you know it. They'll always play together though I'm sure.

Older cat and new kitten cat flap issues

Hello all. Thinking in advance here but we have a 16 month cat who uses the catflap daily to come and go. We recently got a kitten. At the moment the kitten stays in the bedroom whilst we are out and our older cat comes and goes as he pleases. Obviously as the weeks progress we will start integratin...

Re: Introducing a new kitten to my cat

Hey Roscoe - I just recently got a 9 week old kitten and introduced him to my two aged 5 and 7. My initial results were very similar to yours and I used similar methods. I started the kitten off in his own room and then let the adult cats in to sniff around his room and smell his things while I kep...

Re: Introducing a new kitten to my cat

I think that sounds pretty promising, the fact Jeff doesn't seem bothered is a good sign. Make sure when you're together with the pair of them that Jeff gets all the attention so he knows he hasn't been replaced, you can give the kitten attention when Jeff isn't around. I have a soft spot for MC's ...

Re: Kitten meets kitten

Slightly different scenario but thought I'd mention it. When we first got Jeff he was 9 weeks old and we introduced him to roscoe who was 7 months. For the first two to three weeks roscoe was continually jumping on Jeff and biting his neck and trying to instigate rough play. At first it was quite di...

Re: Introducing a new kitten to my cat

Roscoe all sounds good in them hood here. I think so far the way things have gone I'd be chuffed to bits. I actually just posted my own problem with my kitten just now. One wants to fight with the other placid quiet one. Your situation sounds like it's going nice and steady the way it should, I'd b...

Re: Introducing a new kitten to my cat

Thanks for the reply and the reassurance. We will get him neutered as we have with our previous males. They do seem to be doing ok generally. Jeff got on so well with our previous cat I think our expectations were quite high but so far so good.

Introducing a new kitten to my cat

Hello all. I haven't posted here in a while but thought I'd get some advice and share some thoughts. We have a male maine coon aged approx 15 months called Jeff. We also had until recently an 18 month old male cat. They both got on really well, shared food areas, slept on the bed together sometimes,...

Re: Kitten relentlessly waking me at 4am. Advise please.

Thanks to you both for the advice. We do have a timer feeder and we feed them before bed and leave out plenty in the night. This tends to calm the older cat but the younger one seems relentless, we also try and wear them out but the younger one seems hell bent on getting in to our room and when he d...

Kitten relentlessly waking me at 4am. Advise please.

Hello. Wondered if anyone could share some advice. Have got a 12 month and 7 month pair of male maine coons. The youngest of the two has taken to a newish habit which has been going on for about four months or so now whereby he scratches at the bedroom door to get in at obscenely early hours in the ...
