Re: My cat won't stop vomiting

A good home remedy for furball is to either mix a little olive oil into her usual food, or to buy her some tins of canned fish - in oil (not tomato juice). With the latter, give her half a tin at a time, including SOME, but not all, of the oil. Feed her two or three times per day.

Re: My cat is breathing weirdly and doesn’t have a voice when meowing.

If your cat isn't eating you may need to syringe feed her. If cats don't eat for a few days they are at risk of developing hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver) which may be fatal. It sounds like your cat may have a form of cat flu.
Try to get her to a vet which is still seeing urgent cases.

Re: Cat's change of behaviour

Try to train her to come home before nightfall. Do this by calling her, rattling her favourite treats, then give her her main meal when she returns. Always feed her when she comes home for the night, then keep her in till dawn. It's perfectly normal for cats to spend more time outside during the war...

Re: Corona ... someone had to start it!

All of the local vets, including the one I normally use, have closed. They are only seeing emergency cases and doing phone consultations. Even in an emergency, you have to wait in the car while the cat is taken in by the receptionist and you speak to the vet on a mobile. You can't go in with your ca...

Re: Losing Lucy

Thank you so much for your kind words Lilith. I hope she's now snuggled, like a kitten, into Bastet's warm fur, resting till she's ready to be born again. The evening's are worst. I'm used to my cats being out in the garden during the day, but keep them in at night. That's when I notice one is missi...

Re: Advice for adopting shelter cat

Do you have a garden for her to go into? It would be nice for her to go outside if you live on a quiet road. Have the rescues that you're considering homing from done a home check? From some of your posts, I had the impression that you should get a goldfish instead: you seemed to be looking for too ...

Losing Lucy

Lucy suddenly became unwell on March 14th; she stopped eating and began drinking a lot of water. The evening before, when I called my cats in just before sunset, she was missing for several hours, not coming home until around midnight. I took her to the vet, he ran blood tests which came back clear,...

Re: Squamous Cell Carcinoma SCC Feline newly diagnosed

I don't want to raise your hopes because I've also had a cat who died from SCC. However, two vets were both convinced that Victoria had SCC but the biopsy came back as esinophic granuloma. The vet was hugely surprised because it looked so much like SCC. I had already begun to grieve for her before g...

Re: Older Cat 15 years, lossing alot of weight quickly.

One of my cats, Lucy, who had gone missing for several hours the night before, began showing the same symptoms on March 14th: she stopped eating and was drinking more water than normal. (Kidneys? Diabetes?) But her bloods were normal. She was 16 years old. The vet thought she had a distended abdomen...

Re: eosinophilic plaque

Where does your cat have the problem? I have a cat who regularly gets oral esinophilic granuloma which is treated with steroids. She has an outbreak every few months. My vet discussed whether I wanted to keep her on a constant low level of steroids, or just treat her when she has a problem, I do the...

Re: Ill after eating grass

All cats do this. My cats eat grass for England! Sometimes they use it to help them to expel a furball. If your cat is making coughing like actions before being sick, as though trying to make herself sick, I'd try giving some oily fish, like sardines in oil. It will help to process the stuck fur. It...

Re: Black stuff around cat's mouth

It's possible that the black bits around the mouth are flea poop, especially if they turn to blood when you try to clean them. If one of my cats had persistently weepy eyes it would be a trip to the vet; this could be a sign of a blocked tear duct. I used to have a cat, Polly, who had a blocked duct...

Re: Two Cats Lost from South Yardley, Birmingham

Both cats are still missing. There have been sightings of Fred, but nothing about George. The house isn't the same without them, even though I have three other cats. They're missing them two. George is the son of Lucy and brother to Cyd; Fred is brother to Victoria. Lucy, Cyd, and Vic are the cats s...

Two Cats Lost from South Yardley, Birmingham

I have lost two cats: Fred and George.
Fred went missing on 6th April. He is a large black and white cat, inclined to roam. Both cats are microchipped and neutered. George went missing on 14th April. He is a small, homeloving, shy cat not given to roaming.
I'm very worried about both of them.
