Pets at Home kitten milk
Does anyone know if this milk is supposed to smell fishy? A couple of online reviews do mention this but they're from a few yrs ago. I emailed Pets at Home who just said the bottle must be off, but I bought 2 bottles and both smell fishy. They're not lumpy or curdled.

Re: Lost my cat
How I wish I could help. It's the hardest thing in the world to come to terms with. I lost my 3 yr old Phoebe 3 weeks ago. She was too adventurous. I watched her fall, just about 8 feet, and within 30 seconds she was gone forever. I've read cats can survive 5 storey falls, I'm finding it hard to acc...

Milton Keynes
I recently lost my little 3 yr old cat to a tragic accident. She was super adventurous, too adventurous 😥 My other cat Ruby, though they were not best friends, does seem to be missing her. I would love to take in another cat, maybe 2, but doesn't seem to be any available that can live with another c...

Re: New kitten won't stop miaowing
Thanks for the replies. Phoebe has quietened down a bit, she does miaow whenever I leave the room or when she needs the toilet though. She does seem fairly settled, loves a fuss and is extremely playful so all seems good. I would have loved to have adopted mum too but I already have another cat and ...

Re: New kitten won't stop miaowing
I do hope so. Her brother was adopted the day before but I'm told is not acting that way. It makes me feel guilty.

New kitten won't stop miaowing
I adopted 9 week old Phoebe from the CPL yesterday. Since I got her home she's barely stopped miaowing, except to sleep. She's playful and exploring everything but that miaow is so pitiful! Could it be she's been taken from mum too soon? Or is this normal for a kitten when first separating from mum ...

Cat - strange toilet behaviour
I adopted a 2 yr old female cat back in October. I thought I had got lucky because she headed straight for the scratching post instead of the furniture and had no problems using the litter tray. A couple of weeks ago however, I saw her go to the litter tray, and instead of sitting down, she stretche...

Another CKD question
As mentioned on the other thread my 19 y/o cat has CKD. The most recent blood tests show there has been hardly any deterioration since initial diagnosis, which is good. Unfortunately for the last few weeks I noticed she was only eating a few mouthfuls of food and then walking away and pawing at her ...

Re: Very early signs of kidney failure
My 19 y/o cat has more advanced stages of CKD, but for the past 15 months everything has remained stable, which is good. I just wish it had been picked up earlier, before she went blind (which is how the CKD was diagnosed). That said, blood tests 5 months previous to the diagnosis came back ok, but ...

Re: Cat had teeth removed 2 mths ago - old problem back
Just to add that a few people in the situation have reported that feeding tinned Butchers Classic has helped this condition as it has no added sugars, preservatives, colours or cereal, which can sometimes further irritate the gums. My Grumpy Nellie improved on it too. Even after her teeth were firs...

Re: My Missing Cat- Advice Please!!!!
My sister's cat went missing for about a month and just turned up ,looking a bit skinny and worse for wear, as though she'd never been gone! There was also a local story recently about a cat that went missing from a new house and turned up about 3 weeks later at his old house 5 miles away (cats are ...

Re: Can i have a cat and work full time?
It's fine to leave cats at home to their own devices all day. As you've mentioned, just take a few days off work while they are settling in, perhaps going out for an hour one day, then longer another day just so they get used to you not being there all the time and letting them know if you leave the...

Re: Cats kidneys not working properly and ataxia.
Sorry to hear your news. It's the worst decision you have to make but if she's suffering/in pain and nothing can be done then it's the right decision.
I have a 19 yr old CKD cat and I am dreading that day but I know when the time comes it will be for the best even though I will be an emotional wreck.

Last year my vet said fleas were building an immunity to over the counter flea treatments. Have you tried askiing the vet to prescribe something which should be more effective?

Re: Vomits after eating
Hopefully it is nothing more than a sensitive stomach. My old lady has always had a similar problem but she was a very fussy eater (not so much now). She's 19 now and has CKD. She's fine on the Royal Canon renal diet but the Hills one makes her sick. I think they both do a 'sensitive stomach' range ...

Dave doesn't really sit like that so much anymore but he used to do it all the time. Someone did actually photoshop a can of beer, an ashtray and remote control into the pic but I no longer have it unfortunately.

Re: Cat had teeth removed 2 mths ago - old problem back
Well the vet said the removal of the teeth would normally have stopped the problem but Dave is one of the unfortunate ones. He took a swab to actually test for calicivirus and gave him a long lasting antibiotic shot. Metacam is definitely helping and he seems much better/happier tonight (despite the...

Re: Cat had teeth removed 2 mths ago - old problem back
Thanks for the replies. I haven't tried liquidising food but I've tried the soft mushy pate type food (including some very bland stuff I got from the vet after he had his teeth out) and he struggles with it. He actually seems better able to eat biscuits. I struggled to get the Metacam in him (I atte...

Cat had teeth removed 2 mths ago - old problem back
My cat (who came to me as a stray 4 years ago) had a problem last summer with his mouth/teeth in that he kept gagging and furiously pawing at his mouth whenever he ate/yawned etc. The vet gave him a shot of antibiotics (saying it was an infection) and it seemed to resolve things, but a few months la...
