Re: Abandoned Cat

Thanks MollyCat - the cat is called Chewey (its previous owner) and more or less has moved in. I am still not sure if it is male or female as its a long haired cat and am too embarrassed to have a look - I think it may be female. Before I go to bed I see if it is about and it comes in and sleeps on ...

Re: Abandoned Cat

Thanks Lilith - I contacted CP in my area but the shelter is full with over 100 on the waiting list as you said previous it is the breeding season and they are overwhelmed. I was chatting to the neighbour who lives next door to the person who abandoned the cats and she informed me that the person wh...

Re: Abandoned Cat

Thanks - including this cat I am currently feeding 3 cats - there is a young tuxedo cat (the cutest wee thing) that regularly comes to my house and has a feed and a play and a sleep. Sometimes it would stay for a few hours and other times maybe 30 mins and then it leaves and goes home. We have gotte...

Abandoned Cat

Hi - its been a while since I have posted on here but looking some advice concerning an abandoned cat. A neighbour in the street moved 2 months ago and left her 2 cats behind. She even took the collars off them before she left to probably show they were not owned. One cat we (another neighbour) thin...

Re: 20 year old cat diagnosed with cancer of liver

Hi Moonshine - so sorry to read about your cat but I experienced a similar dilemma last year with my 14yo cat Jet. She wouldnt eat her usual food and after a visit to the vet the vet informed me she could feel a mass in her abdomen and was sure it was cancer. I was given the options of ultrasound an...

Thanks Ruth & Vivian - still miss the wee guy.

2018 has not been a good year - losing Jet to cancer in April - losing Mia to a RTA in August to finally losing Paul. I think I will try my luck with dogs in 2019

Re: Neighbours Cat - What to Do !!

Thanks Vivian - I had a dream about Paul last night, I dont usually dream about my cats but I looked out the kitchen window and he was sitting at the bottom of the garden - I opened the door and he came up the garden and into the house and then he vanished. I was trying to get him to reappear but no...

Re: Neighbours Cat - What to Do !!

Thanks guys - it has been a difficult few days now knowing Paul wont appear at my house again and I have been constantly thinking of the wee man and wondering how long he had been in the garden before he was discovered and hoping he did not suffer. I remember when I had Mia at the vet in August the ...

Re: Neighbours Cat - What to Do !!

Just to post an update on Paul - I was walking past the owners house tonight and she was leaving the house so asked about Paul as he has been missing from the end of October. I introduced myself as I had not met her and she informed me that Paul did return after 3 weeks but he had died. She found hi...

Re: Doubts about cremation

Hi - I lost two cats this year and got their ashes in urns. When I first decided to get Jet my first cat cremated I wondered if she would get a joint cremation with other animals or a seperate one - I never thought to ask at the vet after her death so I phoned the crematorium and was assured she wou...

Re: Neighbours Cat - What to Do !!

Keeping my fingers crossed still for him, people will feed 'stray' cats for a long time before they think of getting them checked for a chip. I'm trying to convince my sister that one that keeps visiting her and getting fed and staying all evening should be checked, she is convinced it is a stray a...

Re: Neighbours Cat - What to Do !!

Well I managed to speak Pauls owner on Monday via Facebook - she had been away with work from Thursday and Paul still has not returned. She thanked me for looking for him. She was going to go to peoples houses in the area on Monday night in case he was injured or locked in a shed/garage. I offered t...

Re: Neighbours Cat - What to Do !!

Hi Andy glad you were proactive with enquiring about Paul. Strangevthe owner hasn’t contacted you. And I’ve done hasty things when I’ve had a couple of vinos. Hoping there’s news of Paul soon. Perhaps he’s hiding somewhere. So worrying when you don’t know what’s happened. Keep us posted btw The Fam...

It has been a week and still no sign of Paul. I called at the owners house on Friday evening but it was not herself who answered but a friend. Re: Neighbours Cat - What to Do !!

Sorry to be a bore with this topic - the past few weeks Paul has spent most of his time with me - he has been fed and let out/in when he wants but 10 days ago he was in my house and he suddenly wanted out - I noticed the owner had the patio lights on so I let him out - I did not see him for a week. ...

Re: losing another baby following RTA only 2 years after previous loss

Hi Nicky - sorry to read about Hendrick. I also suffered the same loss with Mia in August. I had only had her 2 months after losing Jet to cancer in April. Mia was a rescue and aged about 2 - she got more and more curious about exploring outside and it got to the stage I couldnt keep a constant eye ...

Re: Neighbours Cat - What to Do !!

Thanks Vivian - Paul has stayed with me all weekend. On Saturday morning I was up early to go to work it was raining heavily. Re: Neighbours Cat - What to Do !!

Hmmm - I couldnt get a cat flap installed as the cat across the road (Fang) would never be out of the house - it knows how to push the back door open and lets itself in at times. I will just wait to see what happens. I suppose it is up to the owner how much freedom they give their cat - with Jet and...

Re: Neighbours Cat - What to Do !!

Problem with this is that Paul was reunited due to his microchip, so legally he is an owned cat. I do agree with you Ruth, there is a downside to microchips and I have known it end badly due to them. I personally wouldn't install a catflap, as he is someone's cat and he is well groomed, so she must...

I can see it a bit from the opposite side, Saturn will disappear off for hours on end, if he is gone more than 24 hours then I start to worry, but up to that point I just think its Saturn being Saturn. I can't see any harm in letting her know he keeps visiting you, and leaving your phone number with her so she can contact you if she's looking for him, in case he is in your house - I think Lilith's idea of installing a cat flap is a good one, as it would mean he could be in your house without you ...

Neighbours Cat - What to Do !!

I recently posted on the forum about a stray black cat 'Paul' who I took under my wing for a few days and then to the vet who reunited it with its owner and subsequently found out its owner lives close by. Paul is now a regular visitor to my house and its owner lets it outside all day and sometimes ...

Re: Stray Cat - Advice Needed

My cats have friends like you. They quickly get to know who likes cats, who likes cats enough to have a bag of treats available, and who really, really likes cats and will provide a lap for an hour or two when required. I have kind neighbours who feed them and watch over them if I have to be away f...
