Re: All most four years on ,I am still grieving

Calm down Mollycat. The world can also view your anger and judgement of us. We can only relate through our own experiences, good and bad. Now I really am off. This is too intense.

Re: All most four years on ,I am still grieving

Dearest Kay, I was just about to 'shut down' my C C account when I noticed your insightful post. I'm so glad I did. When I lost my daughter and some years later, my sister her teenage granddaughter,we were both offered counselling. Being forthright Yorkshire lasses, we initially declined, but were e...

Re: All most four years on ,I am still grieving

I read your last post Bertie, with a sense of despair and a little exasperation. I find it incredibly sad that after 4yrs of support and advice from the forum, your GP, Blue Cross and an NHS counsellor, you still put up barriers to recovery, seem to have chosen to live at the bottom of your well of b...

Re: All most four years on ,I am still grieving

Bertie,I think Tortie has given you simp!e but good advice. It's sad that over 4 years your feelings towards your family have not mellowed. I think as part of your 'Tortie therapy ' you should put the mental ability and time used on your online games to better use. Why not extend an olive branch? In...

Re: Lost my cat

My heart ❤ really goes out to you both on the loss of your beloved companions. I've lost 4 cats of varying ages to unexpected illness or old age over the last 5yrs and all I can say is guilt is an overriding emotion through the terrible heartbreak every time. It is a very recent tragedy for both of ...

Re: Overwhelming grief

Thankyou Mollycat. What a beautifully simple but powerful poem and yes,it has made cry. CB was a lovely old gent,as was my beloved Gandhi. As I age (I refuse to grow old) I find myself looking back to happier times, which is futile,so I shall treasure those words, a reminder of love still to give and...

Re: Overwhelming grief

Hi Tortie. Thank you for replying to my post, however,it is dated 2016 and life has moved on. We didn't go to Spain thanks to Brexit. We downsized to a smaller home,my beloved Gandhi lived to age 16yrs, loved his new home, happily spoiled rotten but he eventually succumbed to years of ill health. We...

Re: Elderly cat dilemma

Rocky is 18 years old, born in a flower pot to a feral mother. He has lived as an outside cat, in a hot country, occasionally indoors until 3 years ago when we moved to flat and he is now an indoors cat. He has been blind for many years. He eats and drinks but we now have to put his face to the food...

Re: my kitten's deteriorating health, help please!!!

so 4 days back i found 2 kittens without a mom (i am pretty sure she wasn't returning, and there were dogs surrounding the area so i couldnt leave them there alone), i guess the age around 4 weeks old, really skinny, small canines, underweight, brittle fur, i had to feed them buffalo milk(with egg ...

Re: Kitten help! Dry scabby skin around head and neck

Hi there. So sorry to hear your kitten is unwell. Obviously I can only speak from my own experience, but when we adopted my beautiful, Cody, she developed large, scabby,, bald patches on her tum, which she would nibble until they bled. The Vet gave her a long-lasting (6 weeks) steroid injection along w...

Re: Too old to adopt

Hope you don't mind me butting in at this late stage. I found the original post and responses very interesting as I myself, aged 72, recently looked to forum members for advice on late age adoption. I don't think you are too old,nor do I think the age of the lucky cat matters. If cat likes you and yo...

Re: clumping litter works too well

I'm using wood based too: Cats Best Original. Compostable, flushable, excellent odour control and doesn't set into concrete or crate a sticky swamp even with two cats with early CKD. It does tend to scatter a bit, but I am using a tray with a very low front because of Pip's arthritis. Yes, it does ...

Re: clumping litter works too well

Have you tried the wood pellet litter? Inexpensive, easy digging turning to a light dust when wet. Once solids removed, for those that have a garden, can be composted down in ompost bin. Nitrogen excellent for soil. I starting using it years ago. Found paper too wet and smelly ,both me and cats hated...

Dear fe!low Cat lovers and all round decent human beings. I'm overwhelmed by your responses, all of them wise, supportive and making total sense. Re: Bewitched, bothered and ...

In the current Covid uncertainty surely this has got to be worth a try - make a list as fjm suggests of your requirements and hopes, then look at rescue centres near you and see what you like and dislike about them, pick one, see if they can accommodate your list and let them choose one for you. Co...

Re: Bewitched, bothered and ...

Congratulations! I would start by making a list of what your ideal would be for your new companions (Kittens? Young adults? Bonded pair? Older?, Indoor only? In and outdoor? Good with children? etc, etc) - you will probably end up throwing most of your criteria out of the window but it helps to sta...

Re: Bewitched, bothered and ...

I'm glad hubby had a sign that made him realise that he wanted cats in his life again, I do appreciate the headache though, I had that with Lucy as I wasn't used to picking cats, and I did go to two rescues with two different friends, both had different ideas of what I should go for, and that made ...

Dear Mollycat and Booktigger. That's an awful lot of information to take in but I am finding it extremely useful, appreciate you both sharing your experiences. Adopting from the SSPCA

Hi fellow cat lovers. Whilst I have nearly always homed animals (especially cats) from smaller charities, I have never adopted a cat from the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to animals. I recently read somewhere that the SSPCA has 350 cats + in their care and was wondering if anyone h...

Hi Mollycat, I've been following your 'story' and so pleased life is improving. We have a row of fitted wardrobes in the bedroom. My Gandhi used to claim access to the bottom of them all, which not only caused a problem when he was a bit 'windy' but all the blooming doors had to remain open, or he w...

Ah yes dear Viv, my darlings Armand and Cody died within 4 weeks of each other. Poor Cody. So sorry to hear of your loss, Papa Cat. Your description of Lizzie's passing reminded me of losing my wee black cat, Armand in 2016. Hi there dear Vivien. I'm not in the chat room much because I no longer have any pets, but today, I thought I would check in.
