Re: Vet cones after a neutering - how vital?
Yeh, some cats do not adjust at all to the collars especially those that are very active and nimble. They are good little things to help keep wounds and areas off limits, but with my cats they'd do more harm then good. It's being cruel to be kind sometimes when they have to wear them

Re: HELP! 10 WEEK OLD KITTEN! NEED URGENT ADVICE
I agree. Neutering him is of key importance. And I definitely would not leave them together unattended. He's probably being very curious. Cats are smart animals and we can't always predict their next move and before you know it, he could have got his little leg over. Be safe and try and get him neut...

Re: Vet cones after a neutering - how vital?
All of the cats I have had that were neutered none wore a cone. There is no harm using them, it's an extra precaution to stop them from going near the site. I believe female cats when spayed are normally given dissolvable stitches, wherever this has any baring on the cone, I couldn't say. I guess it...

Re: Amputee Cat struggling
She's confined to one room currently and isn't being allowed full access of the house as such. Atm the sofa is her home and she is sticking to the same spot for the majority of the day. My Grandmother's vet did explain that Simba will need to be confined to which she has. I myself am shocked she was...

Re: Amputee Cat struggling
She's on Metacam and I believe she was giving a shot of pain killer that tends to last for few days, I think. Not quite sure. She's not as mobile now, even with 4 legs. Her usual day involves sleeping for pretty much 85% of it and Simba isn't a active cat these days. Maybe I'm getting ahead of mysel...

Amputee Cat struggling
Hey everyone Firstly... It's wonderful to be back, I used to be a regular vistor here many years ago and this place was wonderful at advice and it was the first place I thought of when dealing with this tricky situation. My grandmother has two cats, both elderly now. Simba is almost 14yrs and Betsy ...

Will give the neighbours a shot...see if you they know. She started trusting me much more but I don't think she trust me enough yet to try and get a collar on.
About the collar...a 2cm...is that long enough. Never tried paper collar. And tape the paper to the cat??

Very cheeky cat or stray?
Every evening between 6.30-9pm a cat visits. Female and definitely spayed cause she been visiting every night for about 10wks and has showed no signs of being in heat or carrying kittens. Of course I started feeding her. I set up a small shelter for her under our roof in my garden with a blanket. Fo...

Hi
Tried paper collar, nothing. Did leaflets yesterday, no response yet. Tried knocking on doors I got no answer from...nothing. Looking at her, I have called her Sammy btw, she seems in good health, maybe tad underweight but her coat to me is what proves she is homeless.

Ugent home for stray cat in MK40 area. (moving away soon)
Hiya For last 2mths or so I have been feeding a female cat. I provide her food every night cause she only comes evening time round 7pm. I have a massive cover in my garden where its protected from rain and so on. I have made up a little box for her with a blanket inside but I dont think she uses it ...

Re: Aunties cat suddenly died
I'm in utter shock. Cats with illness or long term issues, you have an idea why they may pass away. But this was so random. 8.30pm yesterday he was fine. Running around, looking chirpy and then 9.30am today, dead. So within a 11hr gap something happened. I think it happened perhaps a few hrs before ...

Well....I have just spoken to my auntie...and he and Millie were taken in for their annual vaccination just before they went away...and Tommy was panting abit. Now Tommy is along haired cat...and he is the largest long haired I have ever seen. Not fat, but a big boy cat. So he often has a groom to g...

Aunties cat suddenly died
Hi all It's been a long time since I was here, some may remember me. I lost my girl Shelly last year and soon after that I stopped coming here, I just felt a sense of grief everytime I came here so I stopped. But today I come back, sadly with awful news. I had to let it out and this site is the best...

Welcome to CC
Are the nips aggressive? Cause my boy Timo nips all the time when we stroke him or play but its gentle. Some cats do this, its nothing to worry about. Unless he is showing aggressive behaviour then dont worry.

Thanks for the advice.
Sometimes the character is what really matters. I just hope to find one who would settle with my current two. My male, Timo is the first male cat I have owned, for some reason we always ended up with girls.

Re: Adopting a new cat
The reason why is because I have room for three cats, that means I can adopt one out of a shelter and that shelter can then take a cat that's on a waiting list. That cat could be a stray that needs decent shelter and ongoing care/food. I have had three cats since 09 and never once had a problem. I w...

Be weary of 'private sellers' please.
I would always opt for a Cat shelter/rescue then buy a cat from a private seller. Yes cats love the outdoors, however there are cats that enjoy the home comforts of indoor life and do not have the feeling to wonder outside.

Hmmm. Well at one time...I had 3 females, my originals I called them...Suschi, Shelly and Heidi. They are all gone now but when bringing in Shelly when I just had Suschi..no fights, then when I brought in Heidi, again no fights. It's hard...I in the back of my head was set on female cause my girl Ev...

Adopting a new cat
So....one day in the near future I would love to adopt a new cat. My Shelly passed just over two weeks ago, I don't want to rush into it as I did before, saying that I ended up adopting cats still with me today. When my Suschi and Heidi went, exactly four weeks after I adopted another cat. I believe...

Sarie I have been following this thread. Your Harvey is hanging in there, such a brave little guy. Re: Introduction problem
I would say you have got off to a great start really. No fighting, that is always a great sign. The constant following may have annoyed your girl and its possible she pooped away from the box. Try another box as its widely suggested you have one box per cat plus a extra one. Maybe she isnt kean on s...

Re: Does a male cat travel further than a female?
I can only agree with what others have said...it depends on the persona of the cat. Typically male cats that are neutered do wonder more then spayed females but this isn't always fact. Obviously if you adopt a male kitten its best to not let him out til he has been done. And same goes for a female k...

Hi As many have said, wet food would be better. However if your cat doesn't like wet or doesn't take to it well, may I suggest cutting it down to 50g? It sounds less then it actually is. My Shelly gained weight after se developed weak hind legs so we needed to act in order to get her weight down and...

Hey everyone I am sure many remember me and my awful plight with my girl Shelly. I have not been able to post here for some time cause it hurt too darn much.
