Re: Wet food

He's 3. We adopted him as a stray just 2 months ago. His worm treatment is up to date and showing no signs of illness. He's always hungry since we got him which we put down to him being a stray but he got a lot better in the last couple of weeks but is now seeming to be more hungry again!

Wet food

Hi all! Wondering if anyone can recommend a good quality wet food that is likely to leave my cat feeling fuller for longer? We feed a mix of wet and dry but find the wet food only satisfies him for about and hour and then he's hungry again!

Re: Fighting over territory

We have just had another incident with this Tom cat. He jumped up on our back fence and caught sight of Dexter sat in the back doorway and started hissing at him. Dexter retaliated by running into the garden hissing with his fur on end! I clapped at the Tom cat and luckily he ran off. I don't really...

Re: Fighting over territory

I guess like humans, some cats just take a dislike to each other for some reason or other. Out of interest, are both of the cats neutered?

Re: Fighting over territory

In better news, he has been making friends with some other cats on our street. I'm hoping that he will learn to just walk away from the tom cat but time will tell. I highly doubt it, when we spoke to the owner and they were well aware that their cat gets into fights with the other cats in the neighb...

Fighting over territory

Hi all! We rehomed a 3 year old male cat 4 weeks ago. He was Neutered 7 weeks ago whilst in the cats home. So, today was his first adventure outside. All was fine, until he left the garden and met a cat next door. There was a lot of shouting and screaming. This went on for 15 minutes until we found ...

Re: Rescue cat - advice needed

So, this happy and contented boy last night over groomed and has licked himself a tiny little bald spot. Any idea why? He did spend an awful long time crying to be let out. The cats home told us to keep him in for 4 weeks so he's not allowed out for another 6 days yet. As time goes on he is getting ...

Re: Rescue cat - advice needed

We are now 3 weeks in and he's so much better with food. Don't get me wrong, he still loves his food but he doesn't ask for it 24/7. He will sit at his food bowls when it is nearly feeding time, rather than 10 times a day. He is also leaving food to go back to later. This is huge progress from the f...

Re: males and spraying

I adopted a 3 year old stray male 3 weeks ago. He was only neutered whilst in the cats home. He sprayed in the house on 4 separate occasions over the course of the first 2 weeks. We think he was marking his territory as it was all around the back door so we think he was claiming the place as his own...

Re: Cat desperate to go outside

Thank you for all of the advice. I think Dexter is going to have to just sit tight and wait until his 4 weeks are up. I think he is just really missing the outdoors, poor thing. He is definitely getting more interested in playing with his toys the last couple of days so that should help keep him ent...

Re: Cat desperate to go outside

I wouldn't let him out unattended before the 4 weeks are over. My question was whether letting him wander around the enclosed garden with a harness would help or whether you just wouldn't recommend it at all? I don't want to do anything that is not in his best interests but if there is anything I ca...

Re: Cat desperate to go outside

I am not keen on the harness idea but I just want to do what is best for him. If that is keeping him in completely then I am ok with that. I just wondered if it was worth tying so he gets some outside time or to just leave it until his 4 weeks is up and he can come and go as he pleases. I really app...

Cat desperate to go outside

Hi all. We adopted a stray cat from a cats and dogs home a week ago and he has settled really well with us. He is really loving with us and likes to have a cuddle but is also content to be on the floor or the other sofa to sleep by himself. We were advised by the cats home that we need to keep him i...

Re: Rescue cat - advice needed

Thank you all for the advice. We just assumed it was him not thinking another meal would come etc and we are keeping him to scheduled meal times but it is so hard when you find him sitting and crying near his food bowl. He certainly knows where his food cupboard is too  The spraying to mark his...

Rescue cat - advice needed

Hi all! I'm new to the forum after adopting a 3 year old male tabby 2 days ago. He was taken in as a stray in a cats & dogs home. He seemed to be settling very quickly, doesn't hide away and wants to come to you for attention and a cuddle. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, flea and worm treatmen...
